An ok read

The storyline did move along and there were many twists and turns making you wonder if the killer was among the party members or someone from outside the group of friends. Then the thought - was it this person or that.
To be honest, I am not sure High School kids fit the scenario - the sneaking away for a fun weekend, yes. But some of the rest . . . .
At every turn I kept expecting a take on the April Fools movie -

Not a bad read - but I think if this wasn’t for a book club I might have returned the book.

Also, nearly every time the narrator said Allegra or something like it, Alexa would pop up her ugly head and disrupt the book reading. Overly so. So annoying and eventually the audiobook became quite the chore just to get through it - gave me a bit of an headache! That’s not the authors fault - except maybe don’t use words that sound like Alexa. And that is Audible’s fault.

Ending so tough

Then ending was a full on cliff that has so many unanswered questions. I wish I hadn’t started this. :( though it was excellent up until that point.

An occasionally entertaining slog

I understand this is YA, but it was overly too simple. Also, it was just the same thing over and over and over again. This book could have been half the size. Also, it’s just a bunch of spoiled rich kids with zero personality. The ending was just straight up dumb. No resolution. The narrator made all the dudes sound like everything they said was a pickup line. Pro: I like the genre. The author is literate. Good atmosphere

mystery

I really enjoyed this book ! It’s a thrilling story about a group of friends who throw a secret party at a castle, but things quickly take a dark turn when they get trapped and someone ends up dead. From there, it’s full of twists, secrets, and suspense.

What I liked most was how the story kept me guessing. Just when I thought I knew who was behind everything, something new happened. The setting was creepy and exciting, and I could easily picture being stuck there with the characters. I also liked the mystery and how the tension built up as things got more dangerous.

Some parts were a little slow in the beginning, but once the story picked up, I couldn’t stop listening. The ending was shocking and made me think about how well I really knew each character.

Overall, I’d definitely recommend The Party to anyone who enjoys thrillers, mysteries, and stories full of drama and surprises!

good but not as good as the others

I enjoy everything Natasha has ever wrote since The Twin.
this one was good but not as great as some of her other books.
I enjoyed the story though and it kept me guessing.

Didn’t keep my attention

I just couldn’t get into this one. Maybe I’ll try again in the future, but for now it just didn’t do anything for me.

Don’t waste your money; I had wanted to like this but it was just ridiculous

Hugo’s voice

I would rather each character have the same exact voice through out the whole book than have to hear that awful whisper voice again. I understand trying to portray a male character but that was unbearable and ruined the entire listening experience.
