Well-written, unlikable characters

Beautifully written but extremely unlikable characters. Meanness, pettiness and vindictiveness permeates the entire story with no apparent character growth.

A Long and winding road!

Interesting story about family, sisters, and self awareness. The problem is it took a long time to tell the story. It was somewhat drawn-out which is why I gave it 3 stars.

The inner struggle succumbed to the fear of loss of love

Liked the detailed description of all. Didn’t like how easily the characters succumbed to their worst

Unlikable protagonist

From the beginning of this book, I found the main character resentful, self-destructive and often cruel. As a result, she lived mostly in misery, disappointed in others and unable to take responsibility for her poor choices. Probably one of my least favorite purchases.

A Tale of Sisterhood and Secrets

Jemimah Wei’s The Original Daughter is a touching story about two sisters, Genevieve and Arin, trying to reconnect in Singapore. The writing is beautiful, and the setting adds charm and depth to their emotional journey.

Monotonous

This book was read in a whisper akin to a spy story. The story was so sad and full of hopelessness. No hope.

Disappointing

Very disappointing…main character is not at all likeable. Depressing read…nothing uplifting or enjoyable about this book.

Original Daughter

Narrator spoke too softly and with little emotion however l did enjoy the story and would recommend

It’s a very deep read.

I enjoyed the book overall you are hoping that she gets the lesson before it is too late every page you just hoping and hoping.

Pointless

This was a long torturous story. The main character was tedious. The ending unsatisfactory. I get the impression we were trying to be taught a lesson in life about love and wasted time and choices. I had to kill myself to read it to end.
