Doctor Sam Russell's wife is missing. The police don't believe his story - and Sam isn't so sure himself since he can remember nothing about the day she disappeared.

Detective Hannah Montgomery sees something in Sam and his young daughter that touches her own sense of loss. As she delves deeper, shocking secrets come to light making Hannah wonder whether she's protecting a wronged man or a cold-blooded killer.

*I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Since I worked in law enforcement for years, I love crime thrillers. I always like the authors that can get a “real-life” feel to the workings of the case, and Jonnie Jacobs did not disappoint. She did a great job in telling this story of a husband whose wife went missing and he didn’t really want to contact police because his first wife was murdered. He got off from that case, but that doesn’t mean that the police look at him questioningly. Throughout this book there is a lot of suspense and feelings building that are so palpable that I felt my heart racing at times. If you like any kind of thriller, suspense, or crime novels, then you will definitely enjoy this! I give 4 SOLID STARS!

Very good!

Oh dear. This was the silliest story I have heard in a long time. The protagonist was so so so slow - gee should I tell the police about this? I wonder IV his is important? Oh dear, Why me? Clues popping up all over the place never followed up on - by anyone ... Until the very last minute when everything is explained in great detail - excruciating detail actually ... I don't understand all the raving reviews of this novel! Or the reader for that matter - his inflections were so strange - everyone had the same dumb questioning voice. Very strange. No I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Only Suspect to be better than the print version?

Having not read the print version it is hard to gauge but the narrator did a fantastic job so I would surmise that I would enjoy the audiobook better

What did you like best about this story?

Everything! Well written, lots of twists and turns, a mystery that you can't quite figure out but has a believable end, a great narrator, interesting characters, and just an all around good story.

Which scene was your favorite?

Without giving anything away there were several 'reveals' as the mystery started to unravel that I really enjoyed.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reactions but felt it was one of the better audiobooks that I had listened to in awhile.

Wow!

First book by this author, but not the last. Kept me hooked from the first sentence. Lots of twists and turns. Narrator tried to change voices, but it was a little difficult for me to handle because his voice sounded like one that belonged with a middle aged detective.

Good Storyline
