Publisher's Summary

Nicola Price used to have it all - a great career, the perfect boyfriend, an excessive shoe collection, and an apartment in one of San Francisco's best neighborhoods. But when she gets knocked up and her asshat boyfriend leaves her high and dry, Nicola's perfectly crafted world comes tumbling down. Now Nicola is the proud single mother of a five-year-old daughter and living a giant lie. She can barely afford their ghetto apartment, and all the men she dates run when they hear that she comes with a child. She's struggling and scared - and nowhere near where she thought she'd be at age 31. Nicola's saving grace comes in the form of tall, handsome, and wealthy Scotsman Bram McGregor, the older brother of her friend, Linden. Bram understands a thing or two about pride, so when tragic circumstances place Nicola at rock bottom, he offers them a place to live in the apartment complex he owns. But nothing in life is free, and as Nicola gets her feet back on the ground, she discovers that the enigmatic playboy may end up costing her more than she thought. She might just lose her heart.

Annoying heroine, dreadful narrators!

The story is good and interesting, but the heroine is a prideful woman, whinnying all the time about her situation and how life dealt her a bad set of cards, yet when things turn around for her, she jumps to conclusions like a dim wit, and is willing to throw away everything, sacrifice her little girl's happiness and a possible good and long lasting relationship because of pride and stupidity and because something was done in the past. What a hypocrite woman!
The whole book was very disappointing and annoying. I just couldn't finish it. I wanted to throw my poor, innocent iPod out the window because of her quite a few times through the story.

It didn't help that the narrators sucked too! The female voice sounds like she's chocking on a carrot when imitating the hero's voice, and the male narrator just didn't sound genuine at all. Who speaks like that in real life situations??? I'm not usually too picky about the narrators, but these two really made the whole experience that much worse...

All in all, not a worthy credit!

I couldn't get through it...

a sale item that I purchased on impulse, pure smut, nothing cerebral here, nothing. if I was stuck on an airplane with no entertainment or book and an annoying neighbor I might use this to pass the time. otherwisr, not. the reader was goid tho with voice, intonation and pace.

Not very good

Nothing about this story was remotely interesting. The persons voice for the story was annoying and was like nails on a chalk board. I couldn't picture the book, so was hard for me to get into it. The Scottish accent voice was really bad and the way the 5 year old in the book spoke, should have been more like a three year old. Why didn't the kid go to school?

A sweet love story

oh i really really liked Bram. I want a Bram for my own!! A dirty talking, perverted, cocky (total pun intended), and fun scottish man with a sexy as sin accent. Yup, sign me up. I liked Nicola. She wasn't stupid, she thought logically (for the most part) and she had her head on her shoulders and knew her priorities. I loved watching them fall in love.

I did NOT like Nicola's reaction to Bram's secret. It was very drama queen.

I enjoyed the story but not enough to double back and listen to the first book. Maybe when I'm bored or looking for an easy love story.

story 3.5
narrators 3 the female narrator was getting some slack for sounding too old but I enjoyed her performance. Antony Ferguson does an amazing scottish accent but his american accent is for shit. He had them sounding like they had southern accents...lol. It was pretty funny then became sad because he is so talented. Keep trying Antony!!!

Bram saved this book for me

I'm not sure what I liked the least, Poole's narration or Nicola's character. I have heard Poole narrate other books, and have had the same experience. She sounds much older than the character she is portraying, and there is too much angst in her voice (even when there is none in the story). The narration alone may have ruined this book for me, but the "poor me" attitude of Nicola drove me crazy. I guess I prefer stronger female characters. The only saving graces in this book are Bram McGregor and Antony Ferguson. I actually loved Bram's character, flaws and all, but kept thinking why would he want to be with a negative, whiny, pity-party like Nicola. The story itself wasn't bad...with a stronger female character and a better female narrator this book could have been great.

Difficult to get past the weird narration issues

The male narrator seems to be faking his accent even though I listened to other samples of books he reads and he sounds the same. It's weird. He also gave every single woman a southern accent and read painfully slowly at times. The worst part was the voice for the little girl. My ears were screaming from the shrill and annoying voice the narrator chose for her. Not to mention she's 5 years old and the narrator spoke as if the child were no more than two. I won't detail how awkward the sex scenes are, but it wasn't pleasant to me; seemed too crude and gross. All of this together put me off finishing the book and unfortunately asking for my credit back.

lovely RomCom!

I loved this book. I love all the comedic moments and the romance was amazing and a different kind of story.
I got tired of the billionaire meets college student BDSM type of stories. This one is great change of pace. A definite MUST listen!

Who can resist a sext british accent?

Bram McGregor is one sinfully hot male with an accent that is sure to melt your panties!! He's sexy, rich, built, looks good in a suit and has women falling over themselves for him! That's what everyone sees when looking on the outside.
Nicola Price is a single Mom, being burned from her boyfriend when he left her and their daughter, making it hard to trust any man! Her life gets even more complicated when she loses her job and her daughter gets very ill.
Nicola met Bram at Shannon & Linden's wedding where they shared a moment but was quickly squashed the when she has to leave and watches him move on to the next woman.
However, when Nicola is at her lowest, Bram is there offering help and Nicola has no other choice but to accept.
What happens when these two get closer and Bram is there at every turn?

Really loved this story! I could definitely relate to Nicola as being a single Mom and needing help! Bram is a hot fantasy and continues to get under her skin and when he does sparks fly!

Bram is a moron

I absolutely loved this story until it ended without Bram admitting he loves Nicola. I mean, he admits it to himself and his ex-girlfriend, but never admits to Nicola that he has ever loved anyone but his ex-girlfriend. Very lame ending.

Narrators were not good for this story.

This story wasn’t bad but the narrators did not match well with this book. The male character narrating the female characters voice made me cringe. I got through because I hate not finishing a book but I would not recommend this audio to anyone.

i liked the first one better<br />

i enjoyed this one too but i prefer the first one because the narrator , even if i really like nicole poole in other books is not at hwr best in this role. the man also is not expressive enought..anyway i liked it 😁
