Nothing like a little bit of sibling rivalry to turn the world upside down!

I liked the story and the plot. The delivery, world building, and characters (themselves, relationships, intersections) were weak.

The romance was a complete misfit. It also conflicted with the nurse’s personality; one minute she’s procedure/policy and literally five minutes later, she throws caution to the wind to pursue something she doesn’t understand and isn’t explained to her - and no, she isn’t kidnapped. On the contrary, she pushes herself in the passenger seat. Umm. Although she’s driving, so anyway. I truly disliked her. She’s a cliche who didn’t work. Was she a last minute thought because Luke didn’t have a commanding personality.

As far as I know, TMC and MD Anderson are different entities. I’m not sure how or why our nurse, who works at TMC, is able to have a booth at a MD Anderson event, like the next day....? Timing is definitely off - or very unbelievable.

The presidential campaign also makes the book imbalanced, time wise. There’s more telling than showing, probably because this is trying to be conveyed as an action thriller boom-boom-boom than fleshing out characters, details, and connections.

I think if this was handled differently, it would blow itself on the top seller list and T F Allen would be a household name. As it stands, some will love it, most will like it, and others would forget it.

It is a three star, because it’s above decent and it’s not a waste of time, but it leaves the reader wanting more and better. The writing is good, but the story and characters deserve more attention and substance.

Engrossing Paranormal Story

I received this book for free. I am voluntarily leaving this review and all opinions expressed herein are my own.

Here, Luke Johnson works as the night janitor at the hospital. Luke has a special power to heal by touch and as he works he will heal those who are very sick or dying. When Luke's abilities create too much attention, he just moves on. At his current job, he touches a patient and is caught by a nurse. Luke knows that he needs to move on because his sister, Annamaria, is trying to find him to kill him. She also has a special ability to kill by simply whispering a disease and then touching her target. Annamaria has tracked down their father and used her powers to kill him. The father tracks down a
Youtuber to record his story - and he confesses the special abilities
of his children. Now Luke is being tracked not only by his sister but by the Youtuber. Can he outwit everyone and stay alive?

This is a classic good v. evil battle. Both Luke and Annamaria are really well developed in a unique story. It will certainly make you think about how you would wield these unique powers - and the burden that comes with it. This is an engrossing story with twists which keep you glued to the story. This is my second book by this author and really enjoyed it.

I listened to this story - The narrator was great and complimented the written word with his narration. I can still hear the slightly creepy whisper of a disease by Annamaria as she killed people. Well done.

Wow. Hard to put down.

I usually listen to audio books just to pass time while driving but I couldn't put this one down and had to interrupt my "normal" routine to finish this one. Great story, Mr. Allen.
