There are several general principles used in permissive or indirect hypnotherapy. This audiobook is a brief introduction to the principles behind Erickson's unique form of psychotherapy. Milton H. Erickson, M.D. was an American psychiatrist who pioneered several indirect or permissive hypnosis techniques. He also developed several naturalistic techniques using metaphors and stories. He is one of the two most important figures in the development of hypnosis and hypnotherapy in the 20th century. His techniques have been used in behavioral and medical applications.

Story
Typically, we focus on clarity and directness in training, therapy, and other common communication-based applications. However, when another person - including a client or patient - is in a stuck state, almost always, the therapist or any other communicator can quickly help their subject(s) get out of that unproductive state so that transformation can occur.

Story
As discussed in the first book of this series, Erickson used a naturalistic approach that helped the patient (or client) find his or her own answers within their subconscious minds. He elegantly used stories and metaphors as a tool to do this. This concise book conveniently introduces you to this concept and leads you toward mastery of the application so that you can immediately use his techniques in your practice. Milton H. Erickson, M.D. was an American psychiatrist who pioneered several indirect or permissive hypnosis techniques.

Publisher's Summary
If you want to understand how the mind talks to the rest of the body, you must first grasp how the brain works and how it creates a two-way dialogue. This audiobook is a brief introduction to that subject, while providing sufficient information so that you can understand the role that the mind/ brain plays in directing physical health. This is the third book in this series.
The Innovations in Mind/Body Therapies series is a collection of ten short books that review latest thinking and research findings in integrative medicine, which is contrary to the bottom-up dogma that has been part of main-stream medicine for over a century.
The focus is on what how the body - down to the sub-cellular level - reacts to its environment and how the mind can be intentionally used to affect the health through self-talk, imagery, meditation, and hypnotherapy. The ideas discussed are based upon thousands of research studies conducted by major US and international medical schools and research facilities.
About the author: This series is by Tim Brunson, who holds both doctor of clinical hypnotherapy and doctor of philosophy clinical hypnotherapy degrees. He has practiced hypnotherapy for 29 years with clients and patients referred to him by medical and mental health practitioners. He has trained clinicians internationally and almost 3,000 hours of training, much of which was related to medical and mental health. Many of his courses are already available through Amazon in either short or longer books.
The basis of this series is much more than clinical experience and training. Dr. Brunson has used these concepts for his personal health and to vastly improve is own healthcare experiences. This includes surgery and recovery to include addressing multiple skin cancer tumors and outpatient surgeries during which he was fully aware and underwent the procedures without sedation.
