Publisher's Summary

These books display and talk about the potential impacts of age and sexual orientation on the subtypes of narcissism, emotions, emotion regulation difficulties, and mental prosperity. Julia Ryder addresses the "narcissism epidemic" by illuminating the spectrum of narcissism, identifying ways to control the trait, and explaining how too little of it may be a bad thing. There are many forms of manipulation, ranging from an aggressive seller to an emotionally abusive partner, and some behaviors are more comfortable to detect than others. This is why you need to pick up this book with a close watch and uttermost expectation as you will gain a lot. You will achieve a lot by making people what you want them to be, get this book and thank me later.

Not what it says it is

The first chapter is a very general overview, the rest of the book doesn't have anything to do with narcissism. It was as if the title was meant to get your attention then it launches in to the author's own diatribe. Would not recommend if your truly wanting to learn something about narcissism

Entertaining Helpful and Hopeful this Audio-book!

I highly recommend this Audio-book if you cope with narcissistic family, friends or coworkers. The content is engaging and interesting. Examples of narcissists along the spectrum help learners to identify where they and others sit along the spectrum (from 0, a total lack of narcissism, to 10, extreme narcissism). Malkin calls the far left of the spectrum Echoism, a lack of narcissism, a nod to Narcissus mythology. In the middle is healthy narcissism, where people occasionally indulge in feeling special and enjoy self-confidence, but not at the expense of others or to an extent that relationships are compromised. The author did an excellent job. I want to recommend that for all. Grateful!

Wonderful Audio-Book!

I was a little apprehensive about starting this Audio-book. I wondered if it would just be a Audio-book telling us that it is in fact good for us and society to be narcissist. That is not this Audio-book. This Audio-book shows you that it is a scale. That a healthy amount is actually a good thing. I couldn't agree more with the findings of this Audio-book. It encourages healthy balance. Meeting your own needs while not disregarding others. The author did an excellent job. I want to recommend that for all. Grateful!

This Audio-book was a game changer for me!

Well this Audio-book changed it all. This Audio-book explained the "narcissism spectrum", and how we can slide up and down through various times in our lives. I realized that I've been living my whole life thus far around a 3 out of 10. I falsely believed that a 3 was the right place to live. Nope. I should be around a 5-6. Now that I've realized this and allowed myself not to feel GUILTY about being on a 5-6 level, my whole perspective of the world has changed! I am happier and I embrace the essential "healthy narcissism" that protects my ego and self worth. I no longer worry about being victimized by the narcissists in my life because I no longer feel guilty for putting myself first.

Very thankful for this Audio-book!

It is a fresh perspective . I have spent my entire career working in mental health in the prison system and in a public mental health institution. This Audio-book is beneficial to both the clinician and to the average person who is trying to understand the narc in their life. This information is invaluable and I hope Julia Ryder publishes more Audio-books on this subject!

Most Helpful Audio-book on Thinking Narcissism!

Perhaps the best Audio-book I've listening on coping with people displaying narcissistic behaviors. Julia Ryder analysis is generous and clear. I found particularly helpful the descriptions of interventions that can help to shift grandiose behavior, as well as guidelines for recognizing when someone is too resistant to change. Cuts through the demonizing of narcissistic behaviors without minimizing their negative impact on others. Thanks to Julia Ryder!
