Publisher's summary
The Murders at Fleat House is a suspenseful and utterly compelling crime novel from the author of the multimillion-selling The Seven Sisters series, Lucinda Riley.
The sudden death of a pupil in Fleat House at St Stephen’s–a small private boarding school in deepest Norfolk–is a shocking event that the headmaster is very keen to call a tragic accident.
But the local police cannot rule out foul play and the case prompts the return of high-flying Detective Inspector Jazmine ‘Jazz’ Hunter to the force. Jazz has her own private reasons for stepping away from her police career in London, and reluctantly agrees to front the investigation as a favour to her old boss.
Reunited with her loyal sergeant, she enters the closed world of the school and, as Jazz begins to probe the circumstances surrounding Charlie Cavendish’s tragic death, events are soon to take another troubling turn.
Charlie is exposed as an arrogant bully, and those around him had both motive and opportunity to switch the drugs he took daily to control his epilepsy.
As staff at the school close ranks, the disappearance of a young pupil and the death of an elderly classics master provide Jazz with important leads, but are destined to complicate the investigation further. As snow covers the landscape and another suspect goes missing, Jazz must also confront her personal demons . . .
Then, a particularly grim discovery at the school makes this the most challenging murder investigation of her career. Because Fleat House hides secrets darker than even Jazz could ever have imagined . . .

Story
It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

Not bad
The story was reasonably believable. However there seemed to be too many red herrings and and at no stage was the actual killer a big enough part of the actual story line.

The Murder at Fleat House
My sister recommended this book to me and I am so glad she did. I enjoyed it and was touched that Lucinda Riley's son completed this book in honor of his Mom and I certainly think his Mom would be very proud of him. I personally would love to hear he would write a sequel to this book, as I am sure many readers/listener's would support this. The narration was excellent.

Interesting & Captivating Storyline
Loved this book...characters were real and kept us interested in the storyline all the way through. I worked out who the murderer was half way through the book, but couldn't wait to get to the end to find out if I was right. Loved the twists & turns throughtout the whole story - and the ending was perfect, not rushed off - but equally not drawn out for too long. Well done Lucinda...your family can be proud!!
