The tide is turning against the colonists in the Revolutionary War, and 18-year-old Elizabeth Morris cannot sit by idly. Quietly disdainful of her Tory parents, who drag her along to society events and welcome a British soldier into their home during their occupation of New York City, Elizabeth decides to take matters into her own hands. She realizes that, as a young woman, no one around her believes that she can comprehend the profound implications of being a nation at war - she is, effectively, invisible. Professor Louis Moore’s audiobook about the history of African Americans in sports in the United States educates listeners about the fascinating social and cultural history of the nation. For example, integration of major league and professional sports broke a major color barrier for one of the first times in the early years of the Civil Rights Movement. African American athletes competed in America long before the 20th century - in fact, they even competed during the years of slavery.

Minnesota? NICE!!
From my career working with kidlit to my 33 years spent living in Minnesota to my undying love of quirky alternative rock, I had more than a little bit of an inkling that this story about a Sunling would resonate with me. Sure enough, I loved it. But I didn’t expect that Gustafer’s journey from the Sun to the great lakes of Minnesota would get me thinking—about life, my childhood, adulthood, and relationships—as much as it has. The coming-of-age themes serve as a narrative undercurrent for a lively, playful, imaginative tale, making it one of those rare "all ages" listens that works equally well for hip parents and their kids.
Our favorite moments from Gustafer Yellowgold

About the Creator and Performer
After a dozen or so years in the Dayton, Ohio indie-rock scene, mostly self-taught musical and visual artist Morgan Taylor moved to NYC in 1999 in pursuit of a life in the arts. While primarily focusing on songwriting and performing, Taylor honed his skills as a professional sound engineer. By 2004 he brought his love of drawing into the blend to self-produce the first Gustafer Yellowgold picture books, with cartoon images depicting the lyrics of some of his quirkier indie-folk pop songs. The books soon became animated, read-along music videos. The strong reaction from fans and press inspired Taylor to hit the stage with an early version of his multimedia concert in spring of 2005; within three years, he was full-time into the world of Gustafer. Over 2,000 live performances, eight CD/DVD albums, and two Grammy nominations later, Taylor is just hitting his creative stride with the Gustafer Yellowgold series.

An even wilder ride that tops the original!
My kids and I are huge fans of the first book in this series, so we snatched this up immediately. We knew we'd like it, but had no idea it would be THIS great. It starts right where book 1 leaves off and takes all kinds of twists and turns with truly original and unexpected funny characters. The songs in this one are shorter and more story-driven, and reminds a little of Muppet Movie songs (in the best way). Kudos to Audible and the creator for a fun and unexpected sequel - it's for kids, but highly recommended for the whole family.

And the hits keep coming...
Such catchy music! In addition to the songs being embedded into the story, their unedited versions are also added as bonus chapters. Combining the whimsy, inventiveness, and catchiness of Laurie Berkner music with Ben Folds Five and the Beatles influences gives you an idea of the musical style. Very enjoyable.
Oh, and the story is wonderful too! Gustafer is now on his own and as a result the tale feels even more exciting and compelling than Vol 1 (which my kids and I also love).

Fantastic!
While not quite as good as the first part (which you should immediately get now if you haven't already), this was still extremely good.
Such an original storyline with great characters.
My nine year old son and I have audiobooks going constantly and this was one of our absolute favorites.
This one is shorter so I just payed for it rather than using a credit.
Still well worth the price.

My Daughter Was Extremely Excited...
...and so was I for part 2 of Gustafer! We have listened to it twice so far, and she keeps asking for us to listen to it again.
She learned quite a lot of the lyrics from her first listen and often plays the songs just to sing along with them. Admittedly not as grabbing to me as part 1 songs, but ok nonetheless.
My 6-yr-old and I look forward to part 3! ^.^
