Publisher's summary

Whether we are carrying out routine life behaviors, trying to pray, or conversing with others, the way our minds work significantly impacts how well we function. But many times we may feel like our mind has a mind of its own.

  • You fall into bed exhausted at the end of the day, craving a good night's sleep, only to have your mind race in a million directions.
  • Prayer is an exercise in futility, full of distractions and wandering thoughts.
  • In the midst of a conversation, you suddenly realize you haven't heard a word the other person has said.
  • You arrive at a destination with no recollection of how you got there.

These all-too-common occurrences are examples of of how our minds can seem to be completely out of our control. We end up merely going through the motions day after day, feeling anxious and preoccupied. But it doesn't have to be that way.

Dr. Greg Bottaro explains how mindfulness can help us become aware of the present moment and accept it. Catholic mindfulness is a way to practically trust God more in our lives. Instead of separating faith from day-to-day life, mindfulness helps bridge the gap so we can feel the sense of safety and peace God intends us to have.

Following the simple exercises in this audiobook, you'll discover how mindfulness can help you be more present to everything in your life from a trip to the grocery store or relaxing with friends to listening more attentively to a homily or meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary.

Fantastic Course

This is one of the best courses to take for all catholics. Brought to mind the importance of living in the presence and embrace of God and entrust that as long as we live according to His will, He will take care of everything for us.

Trusting is indeed important and yet difficult to do and this practice is the closest one can get.

Thanks Dr. Greg

Awesome!! Not just for Catholics! For Everyone

This is, by far, the best book I have purchased in a very long time. I absolutely loved it. It is not just for Catholics. It is for everyone. Not even just Christians. It could be for anyone who has any conception of "God". Such as a "higher power" used in AA. It teaches how to be mindful in every moment. How to really enjoy every minute of life, every small detail. He does quote Saints and the bible sometimes, but never in a "preachy" way. He also quotes famous philosophers and writers. He offers some prayers at the back of the book for those who wish to use them. I just can't say enough how this book. The author reads the book and does an excellent job. A few times, there have been good books ruined by poor readers. Not this time. Get this book!

good topic but narrator not the best for me

the book was good and I learned a few new techniques on being more mindful. however, the narrator was not great. some authors just can't narrate as well as they can write! it's not that his voice was annoying or aggravating but it made me sleepy!

This is not a Catholic book!

This covers Buddhist mindfulness and tries to call it Christian, but the veneer won't stick - it's just mindfulness with a Christian label. I returned it unfinished, and extremely disappointed that Dr. Kreeft wrote a foreword to it.

The Mindful Catholic

Beautiful work. Dr. Bottaro has brought the Philosophy together with the Religion extremely well.
I wish I had heard this 60 years ago. But our awareness develops as a gift to be accepted in gratitude when it is necessary to bless our lives. A gift that has been there forever waiting to be unwrapped in due time.
