For years her explorer father promised Dr. Lauren Westlake she'd accompany him on one of his Egyptian expeditions. But as the empty promises mounted, Lauren determined to earn her own way. Now the assistant curator of Egyptology for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Lauren receives two unexpected invitations. The first is her repentant father's offer to finally bring her to Egypt as his colleague on a new expedition. The second is a chance to enter the world of New York's wealthiest patrons who have been victims of art fraud. With Egyptomania sweeping the city after the discovery of King Tut's tomb, Detective Joe Caravello is on the hunt for a notorious forger preying on the open wallets of New York's high society. Dr. Westlake is just the expert he needs to help him track the criminal. Together they search for the truth, and the closer Lauren and Joe get to discovering the forger's identity, the more entangled they become in a web of deception and crime. In this rich 1920s tale, bestselling author Jocelyn Green invites you into one of New York City's most esteemed museums, where a young woman discovers secrets, betrayal, and romance.

I loved this book! The narrator was excellent, and the story really kept me guessing. The time period was really interesting as well!

Jocelyn Greene’s exceptional research is on display in this first novel of the “On Central Park” collection.

As Dr Lauren Westlake assists Officer Joe Caravelli in solving a forgery ring in New York, the reader is introduced to countless tidbits of scholarly Egyptology.
The historical period of the setting adds flavor and color to the story.

The narrator is one with whom I am familiar, and I was certain I would enjoy her presentation.

This story is worth the time spent.

“Authenticity”

t's a satisfyingly complex historical with elements of intrigue and romance like only Jocelyn Green can pen. I was rooting for the second chance romance thread while the mystery unraveled! The concept fits into a unique niche with Egyptian antiquities, Prohibition, and a bright NYC setting threaded together with family secrets, betrayal, and loyalties as major themes. The audiobook is narrated by a fav, too: Pilar Witherspoon.

Immensely enjoyed this one!

I’m a follower of anything king tut and Ancient Egypt. A twisty story of forgers. Underpinnings of a great museum. Great read!

Right up my alley!

The narrator ending most sentences “up,” like a question, and her over-emphasis of consonants nearly led me to stop. I think this one might be better read rather than in audible form.

Ok story. Awful narrator
