Mostly really good

Quick and succinct and mostly accurate history of the Maya. The voice, reading the book, usually didn’t mirror the tone of what was occurring in the book. This was especially true when listening to the many specific brutalities against the Maya. Too many times the end of the sentence has a rising inflection. Also there was over emphasis of gold and the Maya. Aztec & Inca = gold. Maya = jade.

One issues, with the book itself, was the use of adjectives/adverbs such as, “savage/savagely” “brutal/brutally” etc, when referring to the Maya. The Maya were not the invaders. They were protecting what was theirs. Perhaps using different verbs, adjectives, adverbs to reflect the Maya protecting their culture, would be more accurate and less lazy.

A nice overview not a deep dive

Overall it was a good series it hit all the high points and the low points, a cursory study of the subject would prove to be very beneficial from this series.
