Publisher's Summary

What's the next thing you want to buy?

We all have heard of the phrase "money can't buy happiness", but what we don't realize is a lot of us are under the control of the media and advertising industry, and have been fed the idea that having more materialistic possessions can help you experience a much happier and more fulfilling life. This obsession with having fancy clothes, nice cars, or bigger houses has distracted many people from being kind, friendly, and respectful to each other. The materialistic mindset has also caused a large number of people to get into serious debt, which leads to financial stress that jeopardizes a person's health and well-being.

In this book, Grace Scott will introduces us to the consequences of materialism, and how materialism can have a terrifying impact on us. She will also show us exact steps we need to take in order to be free from this materialistic society.

Here is what I'll be sharing with you:

  • The materialistic mentality
  • Material possessions vs. happiness
  • Fun and non-material forms of entertainment
  • The remedy of materialism

This is the medicine I needed to get over my mater

I can't tell you what wonders this book did for me. I always considered myself not very materialistic. Though, after listening to this book I realize now just how mistaken I was. Grace covers everything that I needed to see just how materialistic I have become. It was through following her simple steps that I am finally free of the materialism. It really isn't that hard. You think that stopping it will drain the meaning from your life. What I hadn't expected was that the opposite would happen! She reveals the freedom of owning things and not being owned by your things!

Five star!

As for the merits of this book, I think there many good points that are made here. I won't go over the finer points for the sake of spoilers. What this will do for you is give you an indication of whether or not you have dedicated too much time and money into having things rather than meaningful experiences. If you like self-help materials, give this one a look.

Impressive!

I really enjoyed the listen and got a lot out of it. Just wish it was longer, that way the author could have gone more in depth.

This should've been a social post instead.

Sounds like someone has a grudge against those with materialistic views. Not very informative. States the very obvious and will not change your life. No wonder these are on buy one get 5 free.
