Publisher's Summary

The Map of Consciousness Explained is a compilation of Dr. David R. Hawkins’ lectures on human consciousness and their associated energy fields. Using muscle testing, Dr. Hawkins conducted over 250,000 calibrations during 20 years of research to define a range of values, attitudes, and emotions that correspond to levels of consciousness. This range of values, along with a logarithmic scale of 1 to 1,000, became the Map of Consciousness, which Dr. Hawkins first wrote about in his New York Times best-selling book Power vs. Force (1995). In the lectures on this audio download, Dr. Hawkins explains the classifications and energy fields of the Map of Consciousness, making them comprehensible and useful in daily life. With this unique higher understanding, we are able to evolve spiritually to be freer, happier human beings in all areas of our lives.

Doesn’t match the written version at all

I ordered this audio version of the book because I had trouble comprehending the written version which (medical issue with reading) I had read about half way through. I have had previous exposure to Dr. Hawkins’ writing through YouTube and was very impressed with the basic ideas.
I wanted to hear what he had written to get a clearer understanding than I was able to get from just reading it.
This is a very different text from what I had read. It was very hard to understand him or his ideas from listening to it. I highly recommend the book and it’s essence. I strongly resent this version which was quite incomprehensible. I value the basic concepts a lot and will try to struggle with the actual writing because I want to understand him.
I think this Is a terribly unfair way to try to comprehend his ideas.

Never gets old

I listened many times and will likely continue. Just hearing his teaching are meditative and activate the higher spiritual bodies to produce a feeling of safety and understanding. I listen when times get tough to get in touch with the Truth.

A True Spiritual Teacher

I have been studying the work of Dr. David Hawkins for almost 20 years and he is truly an enlightened being who brings truth to the world from a perspective that is not too well known and can be viewed from a western viewpoint as well as an eastern viewpoint. I highly recommend all of his books and lectures.

Great resource

"Nonlinear Learning takes place as a result of familiarity rather than logical sequenced, processed intellection." as said by Dr Hawkins

This audio is a really easy way to become familiar.

Lecture Recordings, Does Not Follow Kindle Book

I got some excellent knowledge and insights from this title, so from that aspect, it was good. What disappointed me, though, was that it didn't follow the Kindle book of the same title. I often purchase the Kindle and audio versions to read along with the narration.

I could not do that because the audio version is entirely different than the Kindle version (I guess I should have looked for the word "Unabridged" when I purchased it). It was the same subject matter, but if you're like me and like to read along with the narration, then be aware of this.

Another thing I didn't particularly like was Dr. Hawkins's style of lecturing. He does seem like a sweet guy trying to help his students, but his continual going off on tangents, trying to interject humor, and the numerous bits of what sounds like nervous laughter bugged me a bit. Still, I enjoyed the actual content and subject of the lectures.

So, the bottom line is that I learned some stuff, but it could have been better.

I suppose I would choose the Kindle version if I had to choose between this audio version and the Kindle book; it seems more informative and laid out more clearly.

Hearing his words in his voice improved my understanding

The concepts are far from conventional and for me a challenge. Hearing his lifetime personal journeys to get here and explain it, is a real treat. It is like listening to an elder that admits all his growth and understanding progression from his former delusions. His life as he aged became more clear. It is unlikely reading the book contents once will be a sufficient. Even reading it when your young will be different when your older and wiser. It will take patience and contemplation before this information can self actualized much less useful. This is just a tip of an infinite iceberg, adrift with on universe ocean of eternity.

Possibly worst audiobook I have listened to

This audiobook is not a book. Its a recording of a rambling old man giving some kind of presentation where the audience feels obligated to laugh at every other word he speaks. It is not structured well, I am actually angry that this thing made it through the publishing process. The only redeeming quality about this "book" is the subject itself, of the scale of consciousness and the levels. However the book jumps all over the place and doesn't even adequately cover the material. It seems as though it was created as an afterthought as far as I can tell and it is disrespectful to package a recording like this and call it an audiobook. I love this subject matter but this presentation was a disgrace. I recommend Levels of Energy by Fred Dodson as a better alternative to this complete waste of time.

Mostly good

I enjoyed the first half, it was obvious in retrospect, but hearing it so clearly and explicitly was absolutely worth it.
In the third quarter he lost me, when he became a bit 'judging' (equated freedom of speech with being able to kill whoever you wanted, sodomy is an aberration, etc.).
Then the last quarter he centered again.
Overall, it's worth reading for anyone who feels any kind of calling to more than just me me me me.

Not for me on audible

...Some fascinating material in here but now i understand why so many people downvoted it on audible, tho it was nice to hear his laugh, some of it was just inaudible or difficult to make out, Interesting but would have preferred to read it. I'd definitely read any of his books i could get free.

don't start here

if you are a follower of Dr Hawkins then of course this is essential listening but if you are new to his work. Start with letting go the pathway of surrender. this is a compilation of lectures done before he published transcending the level of conciousness which is a far superior book to this. Though this too has gems. and it's nice to hear him speak.
