Publisher's summary

Some people will do anything for money. Take Brian Zembic, recipient of the world's most notorious boob job. After a fellow gambler bet $100,000 that Brian wouldn't subject himself to the breast implants he so admired in women, Brian found himself going under the knife to become a 38C - and $100,000 richer.

Anchored by this incredible tale, gambling expert Michael Konik introduces listeners to the quirky subculture of high rollers and hustlers in dozens of other outrageous true stories profiling gamblers who make wagering a way of life.

You'll meet the man who turned $10,000 into $17 million with a pair of dice, the man responsible for determining the point spread of the Super Bowl, and the world's most notorious golf hustler. In addition to the bizarre and hilarious escapades of hard-core gamblers, Konik shares insider tips for how to score more in comps than you lose at the tables, how to identify casino games that should be avoided, and how to gain a legal advantage over the house.

In this rollicking collection of stories, Konik celebrates the glamour, glitz, and excitement of gambling culture in Vegas and beyond, giving listeners a behind-the-tables look at one of the nation's most lucrative entertainment industries.

A Gamblers fun ride.

This is a rambling, zany, funny and entertaining fun ride through the bizarre world of the Gambling universe.

It has Movie written all over it with the spectacle of really strange characters that most of us will never meet but hope on some crazy night will.

A good performance by the Narrator makes the listen even more entertaining.

There's Value In This Audiobook

This was an incredibly fun and entertaining listen. Every story had value from the Brian Zembic story all the way to the story about Huck Seed and Minh Nguyen. That was funny. I've watched some of these players on TV and love them. I enjoyed hearing the stories about Phil Hellmuth. It seems as if only he can go full tilt and come out winning. Hearing about the hotel in Egypt was interesting too. I love poker and these stories were priceless. All of them. In fact this book was so exciting, I listened to it all the way through. I'm telling you, if you can't play poker then this is the next best thing; listening to stories about it. So so much fun.

Alan Carlson's narration was brilliant. He was funny, serious, and entertaining. He had excellent vocal skills with all the different accents of the players. He sounded just like them. This audiobook was a total win.

A Hodgepodge of gambling

This book while enjoyable is all of the map. It is part humorous gambling stories, part casino game how to tutorial, and part homage to the authors favorite gamblers.

Entertaining stories behind the scenes of gambling

Entertaining stories behind the scenes of gambling. I enjoyed all the stories in this book, and the breadth of types of gambling that were covered. Many of the stories and information is slightly out of date, but I am sure a lot of it still has truth.

Insider look at a subclass of gambling

What an amazing collection of stories and guides to gambling. My parents go to Atlantic City all the time. Many go to Vegas. I’ve been to the Charlestown racetrack a time or two. I’ve worked the Kentucky derby. This though is a whole new look at a world within our own populated by a group of people who will do anything for a bet. Always chasing the cards and the game. It was truly a fascinating collection delivered in a truly captivating fashion by a great narrator. Highly recommend this read to anyone who likes the weird side of our world. an entertaining listen

Some pretty great gambling stories in here. I was drawn in by the headline story, which was timely given the recent story about the poker pros that bet $100k over staying in an isolation room for 30 days. The story about the Donald Trump poker tourney is prescient! I appreciated the historical discussion of the WSOP and the stories about Johnny Moss. Learned a lot.

A very interesting read.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review. This book is great. It's a collection of well read, very interesting stories. I think I'm going to quit my job and become a full time gambler.

Fell short

Most of the stories were dated yet quite entertaining. I was surprised in the poker world that Stu Ungar and Phil Ivey were not mentioned as great players. The narrator showed emotion and enthusiasm during the reading however it was comical to hear frequent words mispronounced, such as Binions, Ballys, foreman, riffle, and North Platte.
