Publisher's Summary
Detective Angie Pallorino took down a serial killer permanently and, according to her superiors, with excessive force. Benched on a desk assignment for twelve months, Angie struggles to maintain her sense of identity - if she's not a detective, who is she? Then a decades-old cold case washes ashore, pulling her into an investigation she recognizes as deeply personal.
Angie's lover and partner, James Maddocks, sees it, too. But spearheading an ongoing probe into a sex-trafficking ring while keeping Angie's increasing obsession with her case in check is taking its toll. As startling connections between the parallel investigations emerge, Maddocks realizes he has even more than Angie's emotional state to worry about.
Driven and desperate to solve her case, Angie goes rogue, risking her relationship, career, and very life in pursuit of answers. She'll learn that some truths are too painful to bear, and some sacrifices include collateral damage.
But Angie Pallorino won't let it go. She can't. It's not in her blood.

WOW! The intensity is palpable!
The Lullaby Girl is the second novel in Loreth Anne White's Angie Pallorino series. Listening to The Drowned Girls first is not necessary in order to appreciate this very dark and disturbing novel. Angie Pallorino is a police detective in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The Lullaby Girl is about Pallorino discovering the personal history she does not remember prior to being found on church steps at age 4. Where did she com from? Who were her parents? Did she have siblings? This is an almost uniquely intense suspense mystery. The narration is first rate.

couldn't finish this one
First off I really hated this narrator. Everything seemed whiney and like a question.
Secondly, I finally turned the book off with 3 hours left. This book felt like it was going nowhere and I couldn't care less what happened. The whole book felt like nothing but a pity party and repetition.
I won't be getting another of those series if its the same narrator.

Great Installment To The Series
From the very first page The Lullaby Girl sucked me right into Angie Pallorino’s hunt for who she is. After the stunning revelation of book one, she is on the hunt for her heritage, and it is a very dark one. I really liked this book and I love the characters, but at the same time I felt rushed in the events leading up to the conclusion. It was far too easy for Angie to find out who she was, and I wish the hunt would have been more cat and mouse like the first book. Also the author splitting up Maddox and Pallorino story-lines took the book in another direction as they are better together than apart. There were a few loose ends that were not tied up, one being the killer of several people and the American client. I’m hoping White ties up these loose ends in the next book.
Over all a great series and I can’t wait for the next book.

Paperwork
That’s what this book seemed like. I loved the Drowned Girls and was excited to read this book.
However it was obvious pretty early that it wasn’t going to be nearly as exciting as the first. The first book was the hint for a serial killer and the second felt like the paperwork a detective would have to file after catching a serial killer.

It was ok
I enjoyed the first book but this one was too repetitive and the main character was so annoyingly stereotypical. She was on my nerves. The narration was ok she pretty much had the same tone for every male figure in the book. The story itself kept me intrigued enough to listen to it all. But like I said way too much repetition. I would suggest reading it instead of listening because you can skim through the explanation of thoughts and cases that you’ve read 20 times already.
Overall it’s a good suspenseful story. Just got really annoying after about 10 chapters in.

Not my cup of tea!
Too much description, too repetitive, too disjointed, too many sub plots trying to be woven together. It was painful getting to the end. I skipped more than 1/2 of the chapters and went right to the end because I could not listen to any more of this very drawn out story.
