Publisher's summary

An airport pet groomer meets her frequent flier crush in this captivating romance novella from the acclaimed author of How to Fail at Flirting.

Ollie Wright loves the thrill of taking chances, like opening a pet grooming salon in an airport where every day is a little unpredictable. The one thing she won't risk is her heart, so catching glimpses of a cute stranger from afar is enough romantic entanglement for her.

Bennett Baker is a professional risk assessor by day while writing popular romance novels at night, except he finds himself facing writer's block. His life of carefully planned stability comes crashing down when he rescues a slippery pup in the airport and returns it to the enchanting pet groomer whose laugh inspires him to start writing again.

Their chance encounter and instant chemistry thrusts them into a whirlwind of airport dates at pretzel kiosks, stolen glances at empty gates, and late-night texts that leave them swooning. If the risk-adverse Bennett can take a chance on uncertainty and adventurous Ollie will break her own rule, their relationship might stop taxiing and actually take off.

Short, Sweet, Swoony!

This book was very highly recommended by many bookfriends and I can't believe it took me so long to listen! It was exactly what I needed after a super heavy/dark story. It's sweet, funny, and definitely steamy! Ollie and Bennet are interesting characters with excellent depth and complexity who meet in the middle and I loved it! This story is on the short story, but it's the perfect fit. Shane East delivers his swoony self in a great performance as the sweet, flirty, romance-writing man who tends to get super nervous. January LaVoy was everything I needed from this character, so it was perfect casting! I loved it!

A Novella With All The Smiles!

Never let anyone tell you a novella can't pack all the punch of a novel as Denise Williams gave us all the requirements for an HEA right here in under 4 hours. I was completely charmed by Olivia and Bennet's character development in this airport love story. From funny laugh-out-loud moments, great nostalgia (Hello Diet Coke guy!), deep emotions and a spicy scene that left nothing to the imagination - everything we needed was right here across from Gate C7.

And who better to portray our heroine than the absolutely remarkable acting talent of January LaVoy. Positively the perfect voice for our lead's humble sweetness, but done with bad decisions of her past. Scene stealing voice to the spunky Aunt Harry, and best friend Jess's snark and comfort, Ms. LaVoy delivered everything you could want in a performance. You know it's a great acting when you just want to be best friends with the leading lady!

Then to give us even more to love, we get one of the best actor / character pairings with Shane East as Bennett. His tone with the kind but cautious sweetness of Cinnamon Roll Benny makes you feel like he's just a regular business guy in an everyday airport. We get the "adorkable" rambles that somehow seem to just roll off his tongue perfectly like in a book is not the only place that occurs. And of course, this is a romance, so the deep whispering sounds do make the requisite appearance.

All in all - from writing to acting - this book will be a repeat listen in my rotation as it just puts a smile on my face from beginning to end.

Sweet & Swoony perfection!!

This book was just what I needed! It was funny, sweet and steamy!! Ollie and Bennett were great characters. While both dealing with their own fears, they find something they were not even looking for when they first meet. Jess, Gia and Aunt Harry added to the mix. I loved every moment!
January Lavoy and Shane East were the perfect choice to bring Ollie and Bennett to life! Definitely listening again!

What a delight

First, the narrators are great - I mean cmon Shane East?! Can’t go wrong. Second, this was a great length but I could totally see this as a full length book with more about aunt Harry and the wedding! Lastly, even though I said I’d love to hear more, this was a wonderfully written novella. It had all the best bits of Denise Williams other books and things we’d expect in a rom com. I also love the continued representation of all types of love! Bravo, Denise, Bravo!

a Solid okay

Fell a bit flat for me, the story was cute. But I just couldn't get into it. I think some more about a guy writing in an industry largely written and purchased by women would have been nice. And the comments about the spiciness of his writing by other women felt odd. I could joke about vibrator batteries with friends, not a stranger I just met at a pool.
