Publisher's Summary

In the wake of the Solar Union’s stunning victory over the Tokomak - the masters of the galactic community - humanity has been invited to send a diplomatic mission to the Kingdom of Harmonious Order, one of the oldest and most significant races in known space. It is an opportunity that cannot be missed, a chance to forge ties with a powerful ally. And so a lone starship is dispatched to the galactic core to open discussions....

But when that starship runs into a deadly trap, she and her crew must battle their way home before they are merely the first casualties in a renewed war.

Great Book. But the narrator was lacking.

Why switch narrators in the middle of a series?!? The original narrator was awesome, the new one sounds monotone. Still was a good listen, but I miss the old narrator. I home audible releases the next book soon!

Bad choice of narrator

Why switch narrator’s in the middle of a series. For audio listeners that is equivalent to changing an author. Bad choice.

One more amazing escape, please.

One more amazing escape, please.

This is all that was needed to send me screaming from the room.

This writer is better than this. To resort to such cheap style to fill the needed pages
was beneath him. If this continues, he will doom his books to obscurity.

The narrator makes me want to fall asleep.

A more monotone narration will be wery hard to find. I could not stand to listen to more than 2 chapters.

Unclear and wandering

I have listened to most of Christopher Nuttall’s books but this series of books has started to Wander without clarity. It just feels like there’s lots of unnecessary details and that transitions within the storyline are awkward and leave the listener a bit confused.

ONI is pronounced O.N.I.!!!

I enjoyed the book and Jeffery Kafer does a good job on the narration but it took me a few minutes to understand that when he was saying "oni" he was talking about the Office of Naval Intelligence! Mispronounced military terms and acronyms really take me out of the moment.

ST Voyager? No, but real close.

I'd put this novel in third place, below
(1) "Lost Fleet" series by Jack Campbell and
(2) ST Voyager tv series, (but I'm a trekker)
but this was a good read/listen, and I'm thoroughly enjoying most of the series.

Lost Fleet style book with a lot of repetition

There was a lot of restating the same facts in the book. Playback speed was at 1.5x some of the.

Narrator was ok but overall story was weak.

I know the narrator from the Starship's Mage Series. That Series is great and he did a great job as narrator for it.

It feels that the plot for the "The Long Road Home" was weak and some of the events lacking. The overall idea of the book was ok and enjoyable. But, I wanted more...

tears

Chg'ing narrators hurt this audio book. The pace and overall impact of the story was not as good as the first three. Jerrey Kafer maybe a good narrator but Christian Rummel is superb.

Utterly Gripping

It’s no spoiler to say that there will be battles in this book, and when there are, they do not disappoint.
I found myself gripped by the imagery.
The best yet!

Please stop political re-education

For someone who clearly espouses self reliance, the constant attempts at forcing his the political agenda threatens to discredit it.

REALLY BADLY READ

the story is really badly read. The tone make it very dull, further more this particular volume is written in a dull way.

A note to the author please stop using the word "sardonically" every time!!!!
