Story
Shift your strategy downstream. Why do your customers buy from you rather than from your competitors? If you think the answer is your superior products, think again. Products are important, of course. For decades, businesses sought competitive advantage almost exclusively in activities related to new product creation. They won by building bigger factories, by finding cheaper raw materials or labor, or by coming up with more efficient ways to move and store inventory - and by inventing exciting new products that competitors could not replicate.

Brilliant intro to predictive analytics in retail
I'm a co-founder of a retail analytics startup in Silicon Valley and this book became my go-to intro for retail folks who'd like to learn more about predictive analytics. I've listened to the audio book twice and each time it was very helpful and engaging. A lot of books have very low ratio of value per time spent listening/reading and it was very refreshing to find this 59min book where every minute is to the point. It's bridging the gap between nerdyndata science and real life retail problems. Great examples and overview of how predictive analytics is changing retail landscape. Highly recommend for both retail professionals and tech folks in retail space.

A great book and easy-to-listen to narration!
Where does The Little Book on Big Data rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
A great book about how stores use and should use data to target their customers. As we are already aware, today's retailers have access to a tremendous amount of consumer data. Instead of harping on the same old fears of "big brother" usage of this data, this author offers a refreshing perspective of how technology's ability to data mine can be used in positive and empowering ways. For anyone that ever contemplated starting a business, or a retailer seeking to maximize cutting-edge technology, this is a must-read! Even better than reading it, buy the audible version like I did. It presents an extremely easy-to-listen narration that was fun to listen to on a few long car rides. It will definitely take your mind off of traffic and enlighten you as well!
What did you like best about this story?
I really liked that it was very interesting and the narration was very clear and engaging.
Have you listened to any of Carl Hausman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. This is one of the best, but honestly all of them are very good.
