Take stock of your life: Based on your last 30 days of work (or marriage, or parenting), would your company rehire you? Would your partner immediately recommit to you? Would your children want you to continue to be their parent? The easy answer is, "Absolutely!" But it's probably not the honest answer. Your life might read like a success story, and your parents and friends might even think you have it all figured out, but you have a secret: You feel out of place in your own life. You'd rather binge-watch Netflix than think about what's next. You're living on autopilot.

One of the biggest myths that plagues the business world today is that our ability to network depends on having the “gift-of-gab”. You don’t have to be outgoing to be successful at networking. You don’t have to become a relentless self-promoter. In fact, you don’t have to act like an extrovert at all. Matthew Pollard, an introvert himself, draws on over a decade of research and real-world examples to provide an actionable blueprint for introverted networking.

In this inspiring book, Blackson traces how surrender was a key factor in the lives of so many great people throughout history, and shows listeners how they can move past self-imposed barriers in their lives.

Publisher's Summary
“How long are you going to wait before you demand the best for yourself?” (Epictetus, Stoic philosopher)
Where can you find joy? Gain strength? How should we face our fears? Deal with the death of a loved one? And what about those reoccurring depressing thoughts?
While traditional schooling doesn’t address such questions, it’s exactly what ancient schools of philosophy were all about: They taught you how to live. Even though these schools don’t exist anymore, you and I and most people are in as much need of a philosophy that guides us through life as we ever were.
This compelling, highly actionable guide shows you how to deal more effectively with whatever life throws at you and live up to your best self.
A mix of timeless wisdom and empowering advice, The Little Book of Stoicism will point the way to anyone seeking a calm and wise life in a chaotic world.

Great practical wisdom on Stoicism!
Simply amazing. Timeless wisdom and articulate narration. Ancient Stoicism texts can be dull and hard to digest. The author does a wonderful job interpreting lessons and advice from these amazing Stoic philosophers. Easy to digest with plenty of practical examples. This is a book to not only learn the basics but apply them in everyday life. Stoic practitioners aren't just keyboard warriors but warriors philosophers. To practice Stoicism is not just reading about it, it's also about practicing, training and embodying the Stoic values. It teaches you to live well and also die well. I usually don't finish audio books, but I did with this one!

Unimpressed
Thank casual misogyny wasn't caught by me until halfway through the book. Every instance of being a better person, a good person, changing behavior, etc a he/him pronoun is used. During struggling or when emotions are being heedlessly followed, she/her are used. Not terribly surprising as well but what ultimately turned me off is that this book was clearly written for a white man. BIPOC people will not find ways to practice this in their ways, and no example covers the intersectionality of most current issues. I listened all the way through. I didn't glean much, nothing was new or helpful. Hopefully I can return this.

A good introducción to Stoicism
From the start you can immediately notice a great effort to do the best summary of the stoic philosophy,l. However the book understood its target wanted practice and that is the majority of the book practices based on stoic ideas. This book however should be treated only as an introduction to the study of Stoicism in my humble opinion. From a mechanical standpoint the chapters don't correlate to the words being said. for example in the index it says Chapter 6 but the narrator says Chapter 8. Also it would be really helpful to have the chapters names in the index for note taking.

Worst Narration I’ve Ever Heard
I thought the narrator’s voice was weird on the sample, but I bought it anyway. I shouldn’t have. There’s something very wrong with his voice, it almost sounds like he’s not a native English speaker. His “ancient philosopher” voice is ridiculous, too, like a child’s impression of what an ancient philosopher would sound like. It totally distracted me throughout the whole book . . . it basically ruined the book for me. Otherwise, I found the content to be average. There’s some good advice and some good summaries of stoic perspective, but the techniques for applying stoicism to one’s life are pretty routine.

Essential wisdom, concisely distilled
This was a terrific book for a general audience. The author wastes no time and boils down the wisdom of Stoicism to its most basic teachings, provides a helpful rubric to organize those elements, and describes practical techniques to live a happier, more balanced life. I will widely recommend this book; we can all benefit by focusing more on the things we can control, striving to live as our best selves in harmony with our nature, and taking responsibility for our obligations and our reactions. Congratulations to the author for this excellent contribution.

For those interested in applying stoic techniques to improve their lives this book offers lots of practical advice.
In my eagerness to listen to the content I was a able to get past the naration which frankly is the worst of any audio book I own. I would normally return a book for this reason but the content makes it worthwhile. Endure and renounce!

Colourful, engaging, comprehensive
I nearly quit this book in the first chapter. Let me be frank: grammatically speaking, the writing is poor. And at first, I couldn't stand the narrator's voice.
I'm so glad I listened on. This kid has an incredible talent for applying the ideas of stoicism to real life. The way he pulls relevant quotes from such great range of authors and adds his own quirky commentary is nothing short of brilliant.
The book is helpful, practical, interesting, and just... fun.
And as for the narration, that soon grew on me as well. The odd "mystic" voice that the narrator uses when reading a quote helps distinguish the author's words from the ancients' words--and it really made me feel like he was imparting some ancient wisdom.
This was a joy to listen to and has had a genuinely positive impact on my life. Probably my favourite self-improvement book of all time.
