Meh, go with the Lady Sherlock series instead.

Not my favorite from this author. I really wanted to like this story as I loved the Lady Sherlock series. This was hard to follow and a bit too unbelievable in terms of characters. The performer had a hard time with the accents. It was a bit rough and confusing to listen to.

Solid listen, likable characters.

A solid 4 is a book l’d read every time. Good storyline, likable characters and narrator, and keep me listening for a long, long time.

An exceptional author writes about exceptional romance and mystery

I enjoyed this book. I had a harder time getting into it because I am so used to the historical mysteries the author has written, but once the story got going, it was a great ride. I ended up liking all the primary characters. Keep an open mind. I would recommend.

A bit disappointing.

I love the Lady Sherlock series so much that I gave the romance stories by Thomas a chance (not my preferred genre) - and really enjoyed them as well, This novel lacks the humor and cleverness of the dialogues in the Sherlock series. The narrator is a bit didactic - and the reader is flat. I kept replaying the first five chapters because I kept losing track of the story or falling asleep - this did not happen with Thomas' previous novels.
