Disappointed. Started off good, but then became very predictable.

Well, I think that I said it all in the title! There was no suspense, I could’ve predicted where it was going, and it was a little boring.

I liked the historical context of East End Jewry and Constantinople during the Crimean War. I found the means of murder too gruesome but historically there really was a Russian Third Section, tulip bulbs really contain a poisonous substance, and modern Soviet and Russian means of murder abroad have been no less gruesome and bizarre. I listened to the whole book with rapt attention. I found the moves of the plot to be clever.

This book is filled with distracting anachronisms that make the plot seem even sillier that it would have otherwise.
