INSPIRATION FOR THE ORIGINAL SERIES THE LINCOLN LAWYER—COMING SOON TO NETFLIX

Lincoln Lawyer Mickey Haller is back on the job in this heart-stopping thriller from a renowned #1 New York Times bestselling author.

“One of the finest legal thrillers of the last decade” —Associated Press

On the night he celebrates a big win, defense attorney Mickey Haller is pulled over by police, who find the body of a former client in the trunk of his Lincoln. Haller is immediately charged with murder but can’t post the exorbitant $5 million bail slapped on him by a vindictive judge.

Mickey elects to represent himself and is forced to mount his defense from his jail cell in the Twin Towers Correctional Center in downtown Los Angeles. All the while he needs to look over his shoulder—as an officer of the court he is an instant target, and he makes few friends when he reveals a corruption plot within the jail.

But the bigger plot is the one against him. Haller knows he’s been framed, whether by a new enemy or an old one. As his trusted team, including his half-brother, Harry Bosch, investigates, Haller must use all his skills in the courtroom to counter the damning evidence against him.

Even if he can obtain a not-guilty verdict, Mickey understands that it won’t be enough. In order to be truly exonerated, he must find out who really committed the murder and why. That is the law of innocence.

In his highest stakes case yet, the Lincoln Lawyer fights for his life and proves again why he is “a worthy colleague of Atticus Finch . . . in the front of the pack in the legal thriller game” (Los Angeles Times).

Unlike a lot of others who reviewed this book I still maintain perspective and don't need authors to rubber stamp my views in order to like a good read. Its fiction folks.

Great story

Seeing things from the defendant’s POV is done well. Connelly also explains the legal system from in lay terms which makes thing clearer to the reader.
Hard to put down or turn off. 5 stars across the board! :)

Connelly is a fantastic author. i really enjoy his books. However, I came away from this book feeling insulted. If this was my first listen to one of his books, it may well have been my last.

Leave political views out of the book.

First time I've heard a political opinion in one of his books. I don't purchase books to hear political jabs!! Not a smart business practice.

Fan but I don't purchase your books to hear your political opinions!

This is one of Michael Connelly's most suspenseful audibles. I found integration of the COVID 19 pandemic and the political climate surreal. The events as documented by Michael Connelly were so accurate. This audible allowed a wonderful opportunity to get to know Michael Haller. I was anxious during his incarceration and his near-death experiences on the prison bus rides.
This is a must listen audible .

I loved this riveting story of Mickey Haller accused of murder. And the mother of his daughter works with him to get him freed.

Intense

I was pleasantly surprised by this narrator. Peter was able to give a voice change flawlessly between characters. And please ignore the people who gave negative feedback because there are some mentioned of last president. It actually added more context to the story.

Great book

Good story, performance excellent! As one of my favorite authors, was hugely disappointed Connelly had to bash our president, make claims that no doubt are opinion not fact, and parlay his political beliefs into an otherwise good story.

Engaging- Informative- Entertaining

There are some complaints on here about being unhappy with Connelly’s “politics” on this one. In my opinion, those readers, as seems, unfortunately, so common these days, are being overly sensitive for whatever reason. I’m not sure how you can set a book during the pandemic without referencing it, and the few references to actual political figures are rare and seemingly tame.

As usual, a good story. My problem with The Law of Innocence is that it’s predictable. Experienced “thriller” readers will find little surprising with this one. Characters, plot & “twists” … nothing you really can’t see coming, especially if you’re keeping an eye on where you are in the book time-wise.

The narrator is good (as always) with a pleasant voice, but doesn’t quite differ different characters’ voices enough, for me, to earn a 5th star.

If you’re a Connelly and Lincoln Lawyer fan, you’ll enjoy this one, but I doubt you’ll be surprised by it.

Really Good (as usual) but not Great

Overall, this was a good "Lincoln Lawyer” tale, BUT throughout seemed to draw too often from previous plots and left too many hanging plot lines.
It was like I’d read it before (Déjà vu).
