Great Performance and Non-Stop Action

Very fast paced story in the renegade-verse and a wonderful performance by Ray Porter that perfectly captures the smart-ass badass of JN Chaney. Can’t wait for the next one so long as it isn’t the same basic plot as Renegade Star.

A love letter to 80s action

I didn't know Ray Porter before this book, but its easy to see why he's so popular. His narration fits the tone and style perfectly, capturing the delicate balance of cheeze and awesome that defined the 80s action movies this book calls back to.

That's not to suggest it's a superficial dressing like in Ready Player One; The Last Reaper truly feels like Escape From New York because it touches on the same human fears and hopes, not because it makes shallow references. Cain is a capable operator faced with overwhelming odds in complex so full of danger even the concrete bleeds a sense of menace. Couple that with themes of transhumanism and you have a unique take on a classic sci-fi adventure.

This universe could have interesting stories

The universe has potential, unfortunately the story is missing a few things, including storyline and interesting things happening. Also, the story is really yo-yo style and hard to follow. Wait we are on the space station, oh wait we are not, oh wait we are back, oh wait we are not. Luckily our hero has a plot device to constantly introduce elements that had no indication it was there, so that the "story" could progress (nerveware AI).

This product is like a draft of the draft - would need some more work to be actually interesting, however, it has been already released.

Freaking lot of fun.

Getting the next book in the series as soon as I finish this review.

A very enjoyable listen. Action packed sci-fi book. Didn't want to put it down engaging.

Good book

I picked it on a whim and have been quite pleasantly surprised and impressed. I will now have to get the series to see what else he gets himself into.

Action packed ride!

Fast moving with interesting plot and Sci-Fi thrills. Excellent author and narrator team makes this a fantastic adventure to enjoy.

Took A Chance And Ended Up Loving It

At first, I was afraid I purchased copy-cat of Jonathan Mayberry’s Joe Ledger Series (don’t get me wrong , The Joe Ledger Series is undoubtedly in my Top Ten Action Fiction Series List of all time). I think at first it was Ray Porter doing his usual fantastic narration that reminded me of Joe & the gang, but as I continue to listen to the story unfold, I was hooked! I just purchased Book 2 in the Last Reaper Series and have my fingers crossed that Book 2 will be as cool as the first!. Just an update , I went ahead and got book 2 & 3! On Book 3 and I am hooked! Fantastic series!

Jack Reacher in Outer Space

This was the book equivalent to a good action popcorn movie. As someone whose love language is sarcasm...this was spot on. Ray Porter...well, done. He nailed the performance. Very enjoyable. Sad it's over. Now to look for the next in the series!
