Publisher's summary

Trained as an elite warrior from childhood, the elven crown prince Flintathriël fights to bring a stop to a war that began before he was born. With the aid of his betrothed Sairalindë, a skilled mage and dragon rider in her own right, they must find the Book of Souls - an ancient and mysterious tome rumored to have belonged to the god Hath’Raal.

When the missing book turns up in the hands of Mnuvae, the bastard child of the dead king, Flintathriël finds himself fighting to not only save his people from this new threat but also trying to keep Sairalindë safe when Mnuvae takes over the dragons in her attempt to win back the kingdom she believes is rightfully hers.

The love Flintathriël and Sairalindë share shines pure and true, but when the smoke of the battle clears, will their hearts survive the aftermath of war or will their love become a casualty that cannot be revived?

Interesting Epic Fantasy Romance

This was my first Errin Krystal's book. This is the first book in The Wild Realms of Véneanár Series. This is a short, and great steamy Fantasy Romance. The storyline is complex, but well developed, well described, fast-paced and suspenseful, with a great world building. Rosa B Watkinson has a beautiful voice. She did an amazing job with the narration. All characters were easy to distinguish. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily written this review.

The Last Dragon Rider: The Wild Realms of Véneanár Series, Book 1 by Errin Krystal Narrated by Rosa B. Watkinson was unexpectedly wonderful for me. The story was sweet and heartbreaking at the same time. I'm not a big fan of fantasy but I certainly did like this one.

Epic fantasy

This is not a book you can listen to distractingly so be prepared to pay attention. This is a story of good vs evil. An epic tale of love and loss. What would you do to save your world. There is also a moral dilemma within this book. Who is in the wrong when the wrongs of the past are hidden and not righted. Who is the true evil, who is just.

An entertaining and quick paced fantasy.

For a quick fantasy this story has it all, dragons, love, passion, pain, action, and an intense story line. The author does a great job in the details and world building. I'm excited to see what happens next.

The narrator does an amazing job. I was engrossed from the very beginning, but the end battle was the high point for me. I will definitely listen to more stories read by Rosa B. Watkinson.

Fantasy with erotica entwined.

The story was good but the multiple graphic erotic scenes should not have been in this book since the character is telling a child a bedtime story. Other than that, the book was pretty good and told a good story set in the fantasy world of elves.

great narrator

I wasn't sure I wanted to finish this audio book but I've listened to the first book Rosa B. Watkinson narrated and her narrating changed my mind about female narrators. She seriously rocks. And I'm glad I did finish this audio book.

Regarding the writing: At first it seemed more on par with a stereo typical romance rather than an epic fantasy. However, the writing got much better when the action and fighting started. The writing became more original and drew me in. I don't mind romance in fantasy books and it could be I'm being too harsh on a writer's first book. I truly hope Errin Krystal keeps writing. She has created a wonderful fantasy world and her writing became riveting toward the last half of the book. I think Krystal could blow us out of the water in her next book.

The plot itself could easily have been expanded into a longer book with more character development. This would have given the author more of a chance to show how Mnuvae became evil rather than just tell us. Her past makes her behavior understandable but she wasn't developed enough for me to feel that sympathy.

As for the narrating, Watkinson was awesome. I hope she narrates the next book in Errin Krystal's fantasy romance series.

Wonderfully Entertaining

First off, I am totally jealous of Sairalinde bearing able to bond and ride a dragon and she’s betrothed to the heir to Elven Kingdom. So yes, there are lots of dragons, magic, mages and elves a fight for who is the rightful heir to the kingdom. Fierce battles, funny antics, sweet romance, some steamy scenes and as with any battle some heartbreak. I loved the story and was immediately drawn it and didn’t want to stop listening. I did struggle a little with the names in the beginning kinda like we all did with Harry Potter but it didn’t take to long till I caught on. Definitely recommend.
When the book first started and the narrator was introducing the book and herself I thought oh no I’m not going to like her, boy was I wrong. I thought she did a fantastic job with narration, she brought the story to life and easily moved between characters

Packed With Zip And Power!

When I was a young girl, anything in the fantasy motif fascinated me. I had all the fancy coffee table books on faeries, elves, gnomes, dragons, witches, giants, leprechauns, you name it. As I matured, I fell away from those books. Listening to this story reminded me why I loved all these elements to begin with. For a short listen, this audiobook had a packed balance of power, love, hate, magic, spells, and fantasy beings. The fact that the elves had a branch who rode dragons was especially interesting. Emotions and magic were supplied in abundance as well as spicy racy scenes written in good taste. The narrator was superb, with a beautiful accent and an ability to change the voice to fit the characters. If you are looking for a quick listen and a story worth listening to, I would definitely choose this one.
