Publisher's Summary

Craig Glazer was an ordinary college student when he planned and successfully executed his first fake sting to get back at some drug dealers who had robbed him. The rush he got from the experience led him and a crew of 11 accomplices to mastermind a two-year, 33-sting spree that stretched coast to coast, posing as everything from local police to IRS agents and hotel managers.

Glazer and Donald Woodbeck, his partner in crime, sniffed out some of the most sought-after drug lords in the country for the FBI and DEA like bloodhounds. For a while, the plan worked—until Craig’s world came crashing down.

A fascinating true life story

This story may not have happened at all if only Craig’s father had treated him with love and respect!
Craig is a smart, capable person who was driven by one main thing, the search for his Dad’s approval. This drove him to find solace in the world of movies where Craig in real life played the part of a larger than life character, and actually scripted and directed real stings of some very dangerous criminals!
A colorful story that is also a commentary on human nature and the desire for revenge (mankind’s strongest emotional driving force).
You will shake your head at the hubris and stupidity of some federal agents, and local cops, as well, who were stung by Craig and his crew.
Many passing references to famous people of all types in the story.

Wow

I wonder how much he left out and now we'll never know. May he rest well.

Boring.

The story is surprisingly boring and the narration is slow and smug. The books goes off on many tangents that slow down what little action there is. I couldn't get through it.

One of my Favorites

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. For anyone that likes true crime and is intrigued by clever "bad guys", this is a great read.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The King of Sting?

The great thing about this book is that there was no ebb an flow leading to that peak. The whole book was a flow and it was all very memorable.

What about Robin Bloodworth’s performance did you like?

His voice an inflection was wonderful and he made the characters come alive. The were subtle differences to their voices and tones, without sounding overdone, which carried throughout the book. One of my favorite listens.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I think there were sad moments, but for the most part, this was about clever and even witty criminals ripping off other criminals.

Boring

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I agreed with the reviewer above. To slow to get to the point of a story.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Average

It was alright but very average. The reading was not that great. Buy a new chair Robin. Hearing it squeak in the middle of an important part was distracting. The editing was poor.

great book

An honest and courageous good listen that kept the story moving. His career path is interesting and engaging. the worst part is that it ended.

Not sure what to think.

A sad tail of what bad decision making mixed with drugs can turn into. I was glad when this one ended. I couldn’t take another scam or “sting” or shady deal. It’s too bad ole Craig just couldn’t stay in Kansas and make the best of it. Sounds like he could have had a great life instead of persistently trying to be something he could never be.

Glimpse into the criminal and legal underworld

Fascinating glimpse into the life story of a regular man, using his intelligence to chase opportunities, learning on his feet. This is one of those books you want to finish in one sitting.
Life lesson here is quick money goes fast.

Garbage

I struggle to even come close to believe much in this true story. I grew up in the same time frame and on the rough side of life.

A guy congratulates himself for 8hrs

A boastful tale of a cringey try-hard. Not the impressive blockbuster adventure story the Author thinks his life was.
