Publisher's Summary

Jean:

The past has a way of catching up with you, even if you are immortal. I’ve spent thousands of years as the valet and companion to the powerful King of All Shifters. It has been my honor and duty to protect, serve, and advise him. I never intended to fall in love with him. My past is filled with death and bloodshed, but I never once regretted keeping Alarick safe. Now an evil I thought long gone has resurfaced, determined to kill Alarick and plunge the world into chaos. Saving Alarick means revealing the truth about myself. I don’t know what’s worse, failing to protect the king I love, or watching him turn away from me in disgust when he discovers what I really am.

King Alarick:

As King of All Shifters, my powers are connected to the cosmos, and I have been around since the dawn of time. There are few things that can kill me. Unfortunately, one of those things has escaped its prison and is set to destroy me. The only weapon that can defeat this creature is the Scythe of Kronos, which has been missing for nearly as long as I have lived. When Jean and I set out on a quest to find the scythe, questions I had long ignored must now be answered. What is Jean’s connection to this evil? Why will he trust me with his life but not his secrets? As my most trusted valet, and my greatest friend, surely nothing that happens along this perilous journey can change what I feel in my heart for him. Or can it?

An adorable shifter royal romance!

This is the last and most awaited book in the Paranormal Princes series.
King Alarick and Jean's story has been my absolute favorite!!
They were so perfect for eachother.
And Alarick for being the King if All Shifters was so adorably clueless.

Jean's sacrifice and devotion towards Alarick was so romantic and bittersweet.

I absolutely adored this one and coupled with Greg Boudreaux's flawless narration, this was perfection!

Love the King!!

From book 1, you find that this King has a desire to make all of his children happy but he is so naughty about how he goes about getting them there. Lol I have laughed over his antics. Now he discovers that the one person closest to him is also his mate. I just love this for them! They are perfect together!!

When a valet conquers the heart of his king

Ah! The time has finally come for the love story of our high king and I wasn’t disappointed at all! This was fast-paced, thrilling, intriguing and magical.

Jean has always cared for King Alarick deeply. As his personal valet, it was Jean’s duty to care for his king but deep down, he knew that his care and cherishing is more than just an employee should be. And King Alarick is the sharpest, strongest and most talented shifters of all. That’s why he’s the high king but he could be oh-so-clueless when it comes to the matters of the heart. Everyone knows that he and Jean has something electrified but he doesn’t know it himself. When a war that could possibly destroy the whole shifter empire comes looming, Alarick realized that once and for all, he had to be brave for his heart, his kingdom and his people.

Ah!!! Jean is the sweetest! So are Alarick’a children!!! Sooooo tower, sticky and sweet! This was such a magical book full of shifter lore, mystery and a looming war. Fast paced and filled with adrenaline! I love how Jean and Alarick found their happily ever after! They truly deserve it!

Wonderful friends to lovers shifter/mate romance

This was a wonderful book to end this year. I absolutely loved it. I loved the world-building from the book prior and loved it in this as well. I loved how it was setup and the storyline was very good. I loved learning about what Jean is and what it all means and his backstory. I also adored King Alarick's backstory and getting to meet several shifters from his past. I just loved everything about this book. I loved all the shifter children and the shifters from the other books. I cannot wait to go back and read the first of this series. Greg Boudreaux who did a great job capturing both Jean and King Alarick!!

Received ARC from GRR in exchange for an honest review.

Alaric and Jean

This was a entertaining story between Alaric and Jean. Theyve been friends for thousands of years and now something has changed between them. One of Jean's kind, an assasin, is after Alaric and Jean needs to keep him alive. But with the loss of sight, and the assasin spitting deadly poison, keeping them both alive will be challenging.

The story was full of action. It was funny, sexy, and fast paced. The narrator was fabulous with the different voices of characters. He did a great job with it.

Loved It!

I have been waiting for Alarick and Jean's book and The King and His Vigilant Valet is everything I could have hoped for. This story is full of intrigue, adventure, mystery, friendship and devotion that turns into everlasting love.
These two are the perfect halves of each other. Discovering what they truly are to one another leads them on the journey to their HEA. I loved seeing our favorite shifters from the previous books. Adding just the right amount of danger this story will captivate you and hold you in suspense until the very end. You will be rewarded with the most amazing epilogue! Greg Boudreaux does an outstanding job of bringing these characters to life. Truly loved this book!

Tender and hilarious

This story by Charlie Cochet was another excellent addition to the series. The characters were brilliantly written, bringing so many elements to their personalities, especially all the many side characters. They were all so unique, quirky in their mannerisms, and hilarious in how they interacted with both the main characters.

The plot was so interesting and exciting! I couldn’t put the story down. It was full of intrigue and never a dull moment. From the start I was laughing, eager for more and swooning at spicy and sweet moments. Over all the story was so well done and I’m hoping for more in this series.

Greg is again an impeccable narrator. He’s probably my favourite followed closely by the other fabulous narrators in the MM business like Dean Ferraiuolo Solo Leslie.

Greg takes a story and creates a world of adventure, makes you feel the story just as much as your hear it. He can take a mediocre book and make it a phenomenal audiobook.

Absolutely Loved This Book!

I don’t know what I want to talk about first; my mind is darting between all of the things I loved about this story! 🦁 🐍 👑

Favorite quote: (Owen) “Ewwwww. The dads are getting all lovey dovey.” 🥰 😍 😘 😂

Adorableness: Anytime King Alaric’s and Jean snuggled in their shifter form, especially the last time, at the end of the book. My heart is full of all the lovey dovey stuff. 🦁 ❤️ 🐍

Battle of the Battles (not sure which one was better): The epic showdown with Nathair or the war with the squirrels. ⚔️ 🦁 🍩 🐿

This was a fun, fast paced, adventure filled story. I had a feeling, since book one, that we would get to witness King Alarick’s love story. It wasn’t going to be a surprise who his true mate was. King Alarick was the only one oblivious to it. That, in itself, was adorable. Jean was perfect for him. I felt so bad for Jean’s fears over his secrets getting out, but I had faith in Alarick. 🦁 ❤️ 🐍

This book will better enjoyed if you’ve heard/read the previous two. We see past characters, along with a ton of characters we’ve never met, and some events discussed will be confusing if you haven’t. They’re just as delightful as this one, so it’s no hardship. These stories were well written and full of lovable characters, who are all well developed. 🦁 ❤️ 🐍

Greg Boudreaux did a phenomenal job with this book, as well. I am very impressed that he used the same voices he originally gave the characters, from the previous books. All too often former main characters get new voices when they pop up in future books. It irritates me, but it’s usually the norm—in my experience. Not so, here. Hats off, Mr. Boudreaux; I’m impressed. 🎙 🏆 🥇

The best in the series so far! WOW!

This book 3 and the next one on the series is, in my opinion, the best so far and a great addition to the first two. The story of King Alarick’s and his “valet” has a complex plot full of surprises and unexpected revelations especially after following the series since the beginning. At the end, love won and everything settled just fine. Of course, Mr Boudreaux's narration was as good as ever, a pleasant gift in this season. The best in the series so far!

Short, fun, well-rounded audiobook

I love Charlie Cochet and was really intrigued by this series. I did not read them in order and still really enjoyed them, although reading them in order probably would have been better. Alarick and Jean have off the charts chemistry and I really enjoyed the trusted friend to lovers story. This was a nice, short, well-rounded listen - light, action-packed, romantic, funny and heartwarming. Greg Boudreaux is fantastic; I’d pretty much one-click anything he narrates and this book is yet another example of his superb skill at bringing characters to life. Highly recommend.

Final book in the series

An oblivious king
A valet who's loved him forever
Everybody knows but the king
A big reveal
Battling for their lives
This shifter story wraps up the series. It's cute (despite all the battles) and had the benefit of an excellent narrator.

A spectacular, romantic conclusion to this series

I've enjoyed listening to some of the shifter princes find their mates, but Alarick's story is the one I was most excited about. He and Jean already felt like an old married couple because of how comfortable they were around each other, but it was such a joy to see them finally confess their feelings to each other after hundreds of years. Of course, finding a mate couldn't possibly be as straightforward as that. I thought Alarick and Jean would never catch a break from the danger nipping at their feet. As much as I wanted them to get some privacy, it was also really exciting to see where their journey would take them. From revisiting shifter children to reconnecting with their past, Alarick and Jean's adventure was equal parts exciting, heart-pounding, and romantic. Their sweet romance tied up all the loose ends from the previous novellas in an incredibly satisfying, adorable ending that warmed my heart. Greg B's narration has been excellent throughout this series, and I loved the way he brought Jean, Alarick, and the rest of the shifter family to life in this book.

Hilarious!

5 Stars!

I've wanted to read King Alarick and Jean's story since we met them in book 1, and it was fabulous!

Alarick and Jean were so perfect for each other and the chemistry between them was out of this world. It took King Alarick a long time to see Jean as more than his valet and his trusted friend, but once he did, it was everything I'd been hoping for. And Jean, well, I didn't see his secret being what it was, but it worked out perfectly in the end. He was just so resourceful and the true mastermind behind King Alarick's meddling ways, LOL.

This was a fantastic read. King Alarick was hilarious and his interactions with Jean and his children were pure gold. The audiobook was light and fun, action-packed and entertaining, just what I needed at the moment.

Greg Boudreaux is a master with accents, I swear I melted every single time he said anything in French. He's done a superb job with this series and I can't recommend it enough!

What’s right in front of you

Okay, so King Alarick is old. The King of all Shifters is several millennia old. And so when I look at his picture, I have a hard time reconciling this. In my mind he’s much older looking. As is Jean. Jean has served as Alarick’s protector and companion for much of the time that the man has been in charge. Jean is blind, but well-able to perceive, anticipate, and meet his master’s needs. The other thing I didn’t understand is how one type of shifter can father other types. Alas, no worries, all is eventually revealed. I don’t want to spoil things, but I did learn about a few creatures I’ve never heard of. Thank you, internet, and some intrepid fellow reviewers who are smarter than myself.

This book, as with the two previous in the series, involves a quest. Alarick and Jean need to find the Scythe of Kronos. Knowing little about mythology, I went along for the ride. During the quest, Alarick comes to see his valet is also a friend and, eventually, a partner. And, of course, there’s a great battle. Because that’s what’s expected, right? And it’s proof Alarick has sired quite a few shifters in his time.

The book was good, and I enjoyed seeing characters from previous books make cameos. The series is narrated by Greg Boudreaux and I was glad because he always delivers a solid performance.

A fantastic ending to the series

The King and his Vigilant Valet was a lovely way to round off this trilogy. An ancient evil has awoken, the only being in the world capable of killing the King of all Shifters, Alarick, and the race is on to first find a weapon that will kill this threat, and then devise a way to do it!

Despite the seriousness of the story, humour and romance abound, as Alarick oh so slowly recognises what everyone has known for eons, that he is in love with his valet, Jean. But what exactly is Jean and how does he know so much about this threat to Alarick’s life?

Greg Boudreaux does the narration for this story (he also narrated the first two books) and as usual, he’s done an amazing job, capturing Alarick and Jean’s personalities so well and giving them a unique voice. It was lovely to catch up with characters from the previous books such as Grimm, Owin, and Berend, and to be able to identify them immediately just from the voice and affectations used by the narrator.

This is a series that whilst it doesn’t take itself too seriously, it is impossible to not become invested in the characters and their adventures.

A fantastic story and an amazing narration equals a winning combination!
