Brilliant

The Jubilee is around the corner and, of course! the Kaiser is willing to use it to try again to cause trouble to the Empire. Add some Fenians to the mix and you'll have a stunning adventure in which all the characters have the opportunity to shine, each of them in their own way. I love that about these stories, the way in which every single character has their strengths and weakness, how human they are. Except for Prince, who is, its name notwithstanding, a true king between his own :P

I really enjoy the way in which all the relationships advance realistically, how Holmes is slowly warming to the idea of having a daughter close by; how Watson embraces the idea and Lucy, who can't make herself call Holmes father, has no issue calling him uncle John; and how reticent is Jack to embark into a romance with Lucy due to the differences in their standings.

The mystery, as always, is great: complex, violent and fast-moving with lots of pieces that will seamlessly fit together at the end.

This is yet another great story in this series, wonderfully narrated by Simon Prebble and Wendy Tremont King.

Lots of goings on, intrigue, kidnapping and murder. What is it that makes solving these happenings so necessary? Why is pressure from high levels of government pushing Holms et all to take the case? Why is it something Sherlock Holmes, Dr Watson and his daughter must solve and stop! Written I feel, with a bit of tongue in cheek humor, these books are certainly enjoyable.Fast paced and involved with a lot of action, if you like Holmes stories you will most likely enjoy this. UNLESS you are a purist?

Unfortunately, I am not listening to this series in the correct order as written. Although there is mention of previous cases, I felt that I was not missing too much of the background story. This book was a bit more graphic than the previous books I have listened to.

What made the experience of listening to The Jubilee Problem: A Sherlock Holmes and Lucy James Mystery the most enjoyable?

Wendy Tremont King and Simon Prebble made the listening very enjoyable. I enjoyed the interactions with the common people who helped Lucy obtain the cart and clothes

I would not compare the 1-2-3 books in The Sherlock Holmes and Lucy James Mysteries series with the 4-5-6 books done by Wendy Tremont King and Simon Prebble.
Wendy's voice portrays Lucy James so well and Simon Prebble is great with Sherlock Holmes. Frankly, there is no comparison, that I skipped 1-2-3 books and moved on to the narrators I really like!

Lucy James is so witty and intelligent. Sherlock Holmes so British and detective like!

Recommend: Redo Books 1-2-3 in The Sherlock Holmes and Lucy James Mysteries series by Wendy Tremont King and Simon Prebble, if you want this series to be a hit and sell books! It's a shame the 1st 3 books are done differently, may not encourage listeners to to even go to further books in the series.....

Good story; problematic production

I would have enjoyed this very good story much more if it were not for the abrupt chapter junctions, sight volume changes in between chapters (the woman’s voice was always louder and more clear, and the men’s voices more quiet and muffled) and the occasional missing words or duplicated sentences. Additionally, the female narrator sounds too monotonous and at least a decade or two older than the 22 year old she portrays, which is a bit odd. Otherwise it is a good story and I will probably buy the others in the series, although possibly in Kindle version and not the audiobooks.

Another Fantastic Addition to the [Pseudo]Canon

First and foremost I really liked the paired narration by PoV (John Watson and Lucy). The over all performance was fantastic and makes a good mystery adventure story much better (you can also get the book on kindle unlimited and have Alexa read it, but I think the audible narration is worth the premium). This is my 5th Lucy Mystery, so I am obviously a fan of the series ...

The story builds on the idea that a gathering of elites for the Queen’s Jubilee celebration makes a very tempting target for international intrigue (with a presumed nod to Guy Fox and the Gun Power Plot). Rather than just stumbling into the mystery this time, Lucy, as Sherlocks previously unknown daughter, is recruited by the powers that be to help with uncovering the plot. Like many of the Lucy stories, there is a mystery man along with the expected misdirections and betrayals. While you could read these little adventures in any order, there are some developing themes that work better when read in order … not the least of which is the developing relationship of Lucy with Jack and Becky that was surprisingly sweet. However, the mystery portion may not work for hard core Sherlock fans as he as his prodigious perceptions stay pretty much in the back ground (so this is actually similar to the Enola Holmes movies that I also find very enjoyable).

What a mystery

Sherlock and Lucy are at it again this time they have to save The Queens Jubilee Celebration and The Queen. Simon Prebble besides Benedict Cumberbatch is my Sherlock Holmes. and this one has a sequel cant wait to listen to it

Misdirection Misdirection Misdirection

I was fortunate enough to receive a free code for The Jubilee Problem, as purchasing audiobooks can quickly add up.

This book delves into the evolving dynamic between Sherlock and Lucy, as he is pleased with her clever mind but also concerned for her safety. However, Lucy refuses to be sidelined and seeks to be actively involved. Additionally, there are small developments in the relationship between Lucy and Jack, and I am hopeful that they will form a formal relationship as their dynamic is enjoyable, and I have been a fan of Jack since his introduction.

However, as we all know, the primary reason for reading these books is the mystery, and this book does not disappoint in that regard. Lucy is asked by the authorities to get involved in a case that involves politics, violence, terrorists, murder, and misdirections, making for an engaging read.

Lucy is a wonderful character who recognizes her limitations but is brave enough to step forward and do her best when circumstances demand it. Like her father, she is highly intelligent and able to draw logical conclusions from the information around her. While we get much of Lucy's logic, Sherlock's investigation is off the page, and the reasoning behind some of his seemingly magical conclusions remains unknown.

I particularly enjoyed the dual narration style, but there was an issue with the audio between the different narrators sounding like different recording setups. Nevertheless, this did not detract from the overall experience.

Overall, if you are a fan of this series, you will be satisfied with The Jubilee Problem. I am pleased to have the next book already downloaded on Audible and look forward to continuing the series.
