Publisher's Summary

A tale of danger, abduction and romance.

Shortly after the Netherfield ball, Elizabeth Bennet begins a journey to London with her travelling companions, Mr. Bingley’s sisters and the proud, arrogant Mr. Darcy. Suddenly, their carriage is abruptly stopped, and Elizabeth hears the menacing cry, “Stand and deliver!”

The leader of a band of highwaymen, Nate Morgan, a handsome, masked rogue, plans to seize Elizabeth for his amusement, but Darcy steps forward and offers himself as a hostage in her place. When his proposal fails to secure Elizabeth’s release, Darcy makes a shocking declaration? Elizabeth is his wife!

At a time when a woman’s future could be ruined by the slightest hint of scandal, Elizabeth’s reputation will depend not only upon the actions of a hero but a villain as well.

Filled with excitement, daring and passion, The Journey follows Jane Austen’s beloved characters from Pride and Prejudice as they embark on a fateful journey that changes their lives forever.

A journey interrupted... Adventure, love and misunderstandings

Review of The Journey by Jan Hahn

A journey to London is interrupted by the unexpected arrival of highwaymen, who overtakes the Bingley coach. Darcy and Elizabeth are taken as hostages, and taken to a cabin in the woods. One of the highwaymen Mr. Morgan, takes an avid interest in Darcy and Elizabeth during their hostage-situation and release.

After the adventures in the woods, Darcy and Elizabeth returns to town, where much drama ensues, many misunderstandings and all the whole feelings are growing, changing and maturing alongside Darcy and Elizabeth as they weather scandal, disgrace and the trials of the highwaymen.

Finally during the celebratory betrothal dinner of Jane and Bingley, Elizabeth makes her way to Darcy to set the record straight after yet another misunderstanding. This sets the course of happiness for the beloved couple of Fitzwilliam Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet.

The voice of Leena, makes Elizabeth and Darcy very sensitive, maybe even vulnerable, but mostly to each other throughout the story.

Darcy and Elizabeth kidnapped for ransom

Darcy and Elizabeth are kidnapped and spent 4 days and nights together in a locked bedroom. They are saved, but Elizabeth is in danger of her reputation totally ruined. They must marry in order to save her reputation, but there are concerns. Many obstacles and misunderstandings keep them apart. All the P&P people are in the novel and many quotes from P&P are laced throughout. All behave the way expected. It is just a different twist and different setting and circumstances from the original. Very good variation - not one of the best, but still very very good.

I particularly loved the last couple of chapters of the book that tell of the second part of Elizabeth's life. It is an exceptionally good ending and epilogue.

This is a wonderful PP variation written from Elizabeth's POV. I'm going to put this book on top of my favorites list.

Excellent

The story is very well written with Darcy and Elizabeth being forced to spend time together. The narrator did an excellent job. I love her Darcy voice. Each charaacters' voice is unique.

Diffrent. But a good diffrent.

This was a pleasure to listen too overall. The plot worked well with our beloved Pride And Prejudice characters, putting Darcy and Lizzy into a new circumstance never seen before. Along with the romance, there was action, chaos, and adventure. There was even a new man thrown in there to duel for Elizabeth's affections.

The narrator did a good job overall. Making sure not to muddle together words like others I have listened too.

All in all it was a diffrent twist then what is normally seen in Pride And Prejudice variations. Well done.

Superb story!

Superb story — one of my favorite Austen-inspired stories — by a favorite writer — and narrated by a wonderful voice actress! Not to be missed.

A very ignorant and annoying Elizabeth Bennet

The narration of this book was wonderful, in fact if not for her soothing voice, I don't think I could have finished this book. The Elizabeth Bennet we know and love is nowhere to be found here. She is replaced by a woman that annoyed me so much that I felt she did not deserve Darcy. She was so willfully stupid and unlikeable. I seem to be in the minority as most people love this one, but not my cup of tea.

Ok, but not a favorite

This is an interesting take on the “highwayman” variation, but I’ve read better versions. I didn’t care for the addition of Nate - it seemed like a needless detour. My biggest problem was Elizabeth. She makes some truly dumb decisions that impact both herself and her family, despite repeated warnings. There are parts I liked and I did finish it, but they were outweighed by the problems.
