About this listen

The great-great granddaughter of J. Wilbur Chapman shares the powerful story of the famous evangelist's life and legacy.

He partnered with Dwight L. Moody, Billy Sunday, and Charles Alexander to reach the world for Christ. His hymns "Our Great Savior", "Ivory Palaces", and the beloved "One Day" continue to be sung one hundred years later. In telling his story, Johannah couldn't help but tell hers. Their stories are full of loss, brokenness, and pain, but the scars of suffering weren't wasted.

In The Inheritance, Johannah challenges listeners to reach back into their own stories and look for the times and ways God met them there. In uncovering our stories we come to accept our losses and trust that God can use it all for a purpose. Johannah has done just that and this book will inspire you to do the same. The way you live your life is the legacy you leave behind. Tell your story. It has the power to save souls.

Johannah is brutally honest with herself and all of her readers while weaving the beauty found in the deep and hard places of life into her narrative. Listening to her familiar voice brought my own memories of some of her stories to mind and reminded me that it was Jojo that first taught me to look at the legacy before me and to allow that legacy to shape the legacy I would someday leave behind.

After finishing this delightful book I am recharged and ready to once again pursue the inheritance I have and that which I will leave behind. So grateful for a life used by God. Thank you Johannah for putting pen to paper and giving the world more of the hope you have found in Christ.
