Didn't feel it...

I am a big fan of L. Steele's interwoven universes and have listened to every single audiobook. So I hate to say it, but this one fell flat for me. I'm a total sucker for the fake fiance trope, but this story was all over the place and felt so disjointed. There were things mentioned about the characters' pasts that were glossed over or dropped completely, that I feel were huge missed opportunities. I wanted so badly to love Rick and Gio too. The constant whiplash between them just became tedious. Then there was the "big twist" which made me lose all respect for Rick. He never fully recovered in my eyes. On another note, I'm a massive hockey fan and the lack of knowledge/research showed. I cringed a few times over the terminology used. I only got though it because I LOVE the narration of Shane East and Samantha Brentmoor. They were flawless as usual.

Best Sports Romance!

The Ice Kiss by (Morally Grey Billionaires Series) brings a fabulous standalone sports romance with a fake relationship/marriage of convenience subtrope. The team captain and the pr manager clash. I found Rick's (Stonecold) character the ideal beau boyfriend. He was an alphahole with a protective side. I loved Giorgina's character, her sassy ways. Her character's strength and confidence were admirable. The spice is sweet as honey and spicey as jalapeños. The unexpected plot twist was a bombshell of a revelation. And the angsty moments were real and heart crushing. Rick's grandmother stole my heart. Grams was the favorite. I also loved Tiny. The champagne loving Great Dane is a great asset to the story. The appearance of characters from this universe was the icing on the cake. I loved Rick and Gio's romance as I cried and laughed listening to this angsty love. I highly recommend reading/listening to this sports romance.

Shane East, Samantha Brentmoor dual narration was flawless. Absolutely love listening to Shane East perform and this was an excellent performance. His inflection is smooth and so easy listening. Great voicing the Rick's character. Samantha Brentmoor brought Gio's character to reality. Her inflection is easy to listen to. I loved both narrators.

So far Rick is my fav guy...

BUT.. obviously L was someone who was spoiled enough to have easy periods. Anyone who has cramps like Gio describes knows how horribly pain sensitive you are and spankings would be pure torture. And that is not Rick (so far in the story) all the other guys leaned more toward sadistic, whereas Rick seems more Dom w/ some discipline. Also: DENIAL IS NOT SEXY - IT IS EVIL, MANIPULATIVE &
MISOGYNISTIC!

Amazing

This book is amazing and so is all books by L.Steele! I love Rick and Gio! I feel for Gio back in The Rebound! Gio is so much like myself! I’m glad the story ended like it did! I have read almost all her books and they are all amazing!!

The Ice Kiss was an angsty, emotional story full of passionate moments between a couple that are the definition of push and pull. Rick and Gio are drawn together by their magnetic chemistry and believe that they hate each other, but there’s a very fine line between love and hate. Their journey is complicated, heartbreaking and full of heat and drama and it’s obvious that these two are meant for one another.

Gio was a surprising mix of a driven woman of the world and a naïve innocent. She was lot softer and unsure than I was expecting and it made her that much easier to relate to. She has trusted in the past and been burned and she’s determined to keep her shield intact even though her feelings for Rick are extremely complicated. I loved when she finally let her vulnerabilities show and let Rick see her true heart.

Rick was so torn in his feelings. Deep down, he knew how he felt about Gio, but he was so conflicted about what he thought he should feel and what he actually did feel. He was such a possessive and protective alpha of a man. He was so wounded and hurt that while he made mistakes, you couldn’t help but feel for him. His gestures to prove himself were absolutely swoonworthy.

The snarky banter and simmering attraction between Rick and Gio was absolute fire. They were so back and forth, but the pull between them was palpable. I loved watching them both finally let their guard down and to open up to each other.

Shane East and Samanthat Brentmoor narrated the audio and they were superb. I enjoyed the story when I read it, but listening to it gave me a new appreciation for it and I honestly fell in love with it even more. Every emotion and sizzling situation was portrayed perfectly by these two narrators and I was lost in the story.

Full of lies, betrayal, secrets, mouthwatering heat and undeniable love, The Ice Kiss was an addicting story the will keep you on your toes with all of the unexpected twists. Rick and Gio were worth the wait and their angsty and emotional journey was worth every twist and turn. Now I’m so excited for Edward’s story.
