Publisher's summary

From New York Times, USA Today, and Amazon overall number-one best-selling thriller and Shamus Award-winning author Vincent Zandri comes a quick, to-the-point listen about making it as a full-time hybrid author.

Finally, it's here: the totally honest, no-BS, myth-busting, realistic, non-politically correct guide to succeeding at publishing traditionally and independently and making a very good passive income.

Part memoir, part confession, 100-percent instructive....

Back when I was a wet-behind-the-ears newbie fresh out of writing school, I hit the lottery with my first novel, The Innocent. I nailed a $250K contract from a major publisher. I was the talk of New York City, written about in the trades, and movie stars like Robert DeNiro and George Clooney were interested in the movie rights. I bought a new house, hired a personal trainer for the wife, put the kids in private school, and partied most weekends in NYC like I was a rock star. It was a fabulous time I'll never forget. It was also one of the worst periods of my life.

Not having had someone or something like this to guide me along the way, I made super-stupid mistakes that not only cost me my entire bank account, but nearly cost me my entire writing career as well. In this short audiobook, you'll get the true story behind my rise and fall and rise again, warts, hangovers, affairs, and all. You'll also get some useful information on how to make it as both a traditional and independent author, or what's known as a hybrid author, in these modern, digital-driven times.

This is the kind of audiobook you can listen to in one sitting but you'll go back to again and again.

Great for Beginners and New Writers

This book is great for those new to writing or currently writing their first book (like myself). Some things are obvious if you've done a google search at any point, but there really are some great tips that will help you along your journey to getting your work published. It's also short and can be listened to during a work commute or over a couple lunch breaks.

I requested and received a free copy of this audiobook from the author, publisher, or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. I was NOT required to write a positive review and this reflects my honest opinion of the work.

Every aspiring author should listen to this

I've penned a book. I have 2 more in the works and thought hmmm, what in the world is the hybrid author mindset? Thank goodness I listened to this book! The author does a great job of making sure you understand the differences between traditional publishing and what he refers to as hybrid publishing. Instant gratification vs. long term reward. I love that the author used his own experiences to pave the way. Publishing is a cut-throat business. One day you are in and the next day people have forgotten about you. The author does a great job of explaining and giving examples of how to make sure that doesn't happen to you. Every aspiring author should listen to this and know that they have options in how they publish, With today's technology the sky is the limit and hybrid authors are becoming more and more common. I'm going to be a hybrid author after listening to this book. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

A useful and honest book.

In 79 minutes you will get an honest perspective from an Author who has been on both sides of the fence.

With a good Narrator you will not only get useful tips on making it as a Writer but great lessons
on life itself.

Thoroughly Enjoyable

Thoroughly enjoyable. Exactly what the title says: Totally blunt assessment of the industry right now with fun personal stuff thrown in. Highly recommend.

Great Read

The Hybrid Author Mindset: The totally honest, myth-busting, realistic, non-politically correct guide to succeeding at publishing traditionally and independently was a good quick read by Vincent Zandri. This is a book to help authors make a passive income writing as both a traditional and indie author. Vincent wrote about his experiences as a hybrid author to give others tips and tricks to be successful as well.

A Must for New Authors!

This book takes us through what can happen when published for the first time, especially when it happens too quickly. It also covers the different avenues today's authors have at their disposal. Learning how one of my favorite authors flailed around his first time around was interesting and eye opening. I think all new authors or those wanting to start writing should listen to this book and learn from Vincent Zandri's lessons. It helps to shed light on what you should and should not do. The narration was well done and helped to make the listening experience more enjoyable.

Hard won experience straight from the trenches

This is packed with everything you wish someone would tell you, straight from the mouth of someone who did it horribly WRONG and lived to publish over and over again. If you've ever wanted to buy a best selling author a beverage (hell, a case!) and get it straight, you want this one. Don't let the length fool you. It's PACKED.

The bullet list of things you shouldn't do in Chapter 4 is worth the price of admission. But newbies will totally need the "this is how I f--d up my life following conventional wisdom" before they get there. Plus down and dirty conversations about money. How to make it and how to KEEP it. Love a man who talks money strategies to me. Love!

LOVE the contrarian advice blowing publishing myths out of the water. Including DON'T write to market. It'll change before you get there. (Who'd you rather trust - people who write hundreds of advice books about writing, or a guy who's knocked it out of the park earning a living writing fiction after totally plowing it into the ground listening to the "experts"?)

The narrator is fabulous. I love a good voice who fades into the background so that you're completely immersed in the author's words, rather than being conscious someone is reading to you. Wehrlen becomes the author's voice so perfectly that I forgot there even was a narrator until the credits at the end. That's perfection for me.

If you want all the down and dirty business advice and reality checks about publishers from a guy who sold big, lost it all, and made a killer comeback in the modern market, this is definitely for you. I'd much rather hear from someone who screwed up big time and will give it to me straight so I don't.
