From New York Times, USA Today, and Amazon overall number-one best-selling thriller and Shamus Award-winning author Vincent Zandri comes a quick, to-the-point listen about making it as a full-time hybrid author.
Finally, it's here: the totally honest, no-BS, myth-busting, realistic, non-politically correct guide to succeeding at publishing traditionally and independently and making a very good passive income.
Part memoir, part confession, 100-percent instructive....
Back when I was a wet-behind-the-ears newbie fresh out of writing school, I hit the lottery with my first novel, The Innocent. I nailed a $250K contract from a major publisher. I was the talk of New York City, written about in the trades, and movie stars like Robert DeNiro and George Clooney were interested in the movie rights. I bought a new house, hired a personal trainer for the wife, put the kids in private school, and partied most weekends in NYC like I was a rock star. It was a fabulous time I'll never forget. It was also one of the worst periods of my life.
Not having had someone or something like this to guide me along the way, I made super-stupid mistakes that not only cost me my entire bank account, but nearly cost me my entire writing career as well. In this short audiobook, you'll get the true story behind my rise and fall and rise again, warts, hangovers, affairs, and all. You'll also get some useful information on how to make it as both a traditional and independent author, or what's known as a hybrid author, in these modern, digital-driven times.
This is the kind of audiobook you can listen to in one sitting but you'll go back to again and again.

The bullet list of things you shouldn't do in Chapter 4 is worth the price of admission. But newbies will totally need the "this is how I f--d up my life following conventional wisdom" before they get there. Plus down and dirty conversations about money. How to make it and how to KEEP it. Love a man who talks money strategies to me. Love!
LOVE the contrarian advice blowing publishing myths out of the water. Including DON'T write to market. It'll change before you get there. (Who'd you rather trust - people who write hundreds of advice books about writing, or a guy who's knocked it out of the park earning a living writing fiction after totally plowing it into the ground listening to the "experts"?)
The narrator is fabulous. I love a good voice who fades into the background so that you're completely immersed in the author's words, rather than being conscious someone is reading to you. Wehrlen becomes the author's voice so perfectly that I forgot there even was a narrator until the credits at the end. That's perfection for me.
If you want all the down and dirty business advice and reality checks about publishers from a guy who sold big, lost it all, and made a killer comeback in the modern market, this is definitely for you. I'd much rather hear from someone who screwed up big time and will give it to me straight so I don't.
