Publisher's summary

There are moments when you think life is going one way then a major curveball sends you in the complete opposite direction.

That’s me, standing in the rain, wondering how things went so terribly wrong.

What do I need? To hide at my brother’s house to lick my wounds.

What do I get? My brother’s roommate, sexy-as-sin best friend, Carter Kennedy: the cute, adventurous boy who was my teenage crush and the inspiring, irresistible man who will never be mine.

Then things get complicated with fun-filled days and pleasure-filled nights. If Carter wasn’t the most commitment-phobic person I know, I could consider the cliché of dating my brother’s best friend. But he will never fit the husband checklist I made to find the man who will be my world, and I’m not willing to compromise on that.

At least, that's the plan.

Childhood Friends to Lovers

This was absolutely adorable and sweet. I adore CJ Bloom and Michael Gallagher so much! When the narration isn’t in duet both of them can do the opposite voices so well!

Very low spice but the little bit in the book is open door.

*spoiler*

While unexpected pregnancy isn’t usually my favorite, something about this one had me tearing up and so thrilled with the HEA!

The Husband Checklist

I love the brother’s best friend trope. It is probably my favorite and this was a great one. Carter and Ollie live and work together but when Julia has to move in it changes everything. This was a fast read with lots packed in, but not to the point it felt rushed. I will be checking out more of Jasmin Miller’s work.

Team Carter!!!!!

I have loved this story for so long that I have done several rereads of the actual book, so to get to listen to some of my favorite characters come to life was such a huge treat for me. Julia and Carter have been friends for a long time, he's been a part of her life in some form mostly as her brother's best friend and now they find themselves curious to explore more. After experiencing tragic loss Julia started to distance herself from everyone fading into a shell of her former self. A hard breakup sends her running home, but she wasn't expecting Carter to be the one that's there when she falls apart. Carter is just absolute perfection in the book boyfriend world, and I feel like I've known him for a long time but to get to hear the narrator bring him to life I was beyond excited because he made him sound just like I imagined him to. The push and pull between these characters were everything while they tried to navigate this new relationship and Carter helping Julia heal and show her how to get her former self back is everything!! Such a great listen!!!

One of the few books that I listened to nonstop!

I love Carter Kennedy!!! There, I said it. Jules and Carter have great chemistry together. It was a smooth read with some hilarious laughs. Jules is a girl after my own heart. Don’t even get me started on how utterly sweet Carter is. Can I keep him, pretty please?! Definitely a must read!

The narrators did a phenomenal job bringing Julia and Carter alive!! I was reminded throughout why I loved this book so much. Also, can I just say that it was one of the few books that I listened to nonstop until my AirPods died and then I listened in the car 😂

Just okay.

Predictable and honestly longer than it needed to be. Just a basic romance book with a spice level of 2.
