Classic Tibetan Buddhist guidance on living a dharmic life in our busy, modern-day world—with fresh and lively commentary from a beloved meditation teacher

Beautifully read by Buddhist practitioner and translator John Canti, this commentary on Padampa Sangye's classic verses of advice to Tibetan villagers of Tingri—by renowned and beloved meditation master Dilgo Khyentse—offers guidance for people trying to lead a dharmic life in the workaday world. These hundred verses, studied for centuries by Tibetans and students of Buddhism, contain a complete survey of the Tibetan Buddhist path.

Dilgo Khyentse's lively explication of each stanza brings to light subtleties and amplifies the richness of the words and their pertinence to our lives. These two venerable teachers advise us in relating to everyday difficulties such as loneliness, craving, family squabbles, competition in business, disagreements with neighbors, and betrayal by friends—as challenging to us as they have been to meditators for centuries.

It was repetitive, a little preachy but generally very useful and insightful. Worth listening to again and again.

This is an amazing audiobook by Dilgo Khyentse who is arguably the greatest teacher of Tibetan Buddhism from the 20th century.

Khyentse has a rare ability to make incredible life changing insights understandable, entertaining, and actionable.

The Hundred Verses of Advice contains a powerful spiritual poem by Padampa Sangye along with excellent commentary by Dilgo Khyentse.

The book succinctly covers the most important keys to living life wisely and attaining full liberation.

The Heart of Compassion is another audiobook by Dilgo Khyentse available on Audible which I very highly recommend to anyone interested in Buddhism and complete personal liberation.

Thank you very much to Dilgo Khyentse, Padmakara Translation Group, Shambhala Publications, and John Canti for making this excellent book available as an audiobook.

Given the incredible power and insight of Dilgo Khyentse's teachings, I hope that the publisher decides to release more Dilgo Khyentse books in audiobook format. I think that The Heart Treasure of the Enlightened Ones and Zurchungpa's Testament would be amazing audiobooks.

Two of my favorite parts of the book are below:

"When you run after your thoughts, you are like a dog chasing a stick: every time a stick is thrown, you run after it. But if, instead, you look where your thoughts are coming from, you will see that each thought arises and dissolves within the space of that awareness, without engendering other thoughts. Be like a lion - who, rather than chasing after the stick, turns to face the thrower. One only throws a stick at a lion once."

"Rather than being dragged along and trapped by your perceptions, just let them dissolve as soon as they form, like letters traced on the surface of water with your finger that disappear as you draw them."
