This Northern Californian cozy thriller takes place between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in a Victorian home at the gateway to Sonoma wine country in the quaint, riverfront city of Petaluma. The dark side of the holiday unfolds in an all-woman, multi-generational household on the brink of irreversible change. Widow, Admaria and her daughter Gracie, a single mom, are settling in for what they hope will be a quiet, uneventful holiday, with slow-pleasured, traditional Italian American festive preparations. In turn heartwarming and harrowing, unexpected events occur when a stranger disturbs their sleep in the early hours of Christmas morning.

Put another log on the fire, make yourself a cup of tea and settle in for unforgettable and immersive storytelling as the past, present and future collide in the company of an unforgettable cast of characters.

A small town, multi-generational story that gives you all the feels. A little bit of history. A little mystery & suspense. A little bit of romance. The narrator did a great job capturing the heart of each character.

Small town, winter favorite ❤️❄️

Since I live in the town in which this book is set, it was particularly relatable. It captures many of the events and issues of the pre-pandemic time in a breezy story line. Ms March’s narration set just the right tone.

What a Charmer!

I listened to this on Audible, attracted to the story because of the references to places near where I live. Unfortunately, the first half was so slow it was always putting me to sleep. Once the story finally developed (at the halfway point) I knew exactly what was going to happen. (I was right).
I made myself listen to the end because I paid for the book and I am a cheapskate.

Slow and predictable
