So relatable. Emotional roller coaster!
Shoo!! I haven’t healed completely from reading this. The roller coaster of emotions in this book, it really took me on an incredible emotional ride. A story of girls falling pregnant out of wedlock in the 1950’s, weaved in with the struggle for opportunity to make something worthy of oneself as a black person in those days. I imagine what my own mother went through in the 80’s when she fell pregnant with me. The sacrifices made. It is personal. I am eternally grateful. What a lovely story, well written and great performance by the narrator. 5/5.
