Publisher's summary

I let her into my home. And now she’s destroying my life....

I open the creaking oak front door of my beautiful country house to see a stranger on my doorstep. The woman is stunning with glossy red hair and flawless make up. "Can I help you?" I ask.

That was my first mistake.

Alexis tells me she is a distant relative and shows me a DNA match on her phone. She has no family and would love to get to know us. My husband, Hugh, invites her in to join our dinner party. As we drink wine, she opens up about her sad childhood. Her amber eyes are mesmerizing, and I can see my husband is being drawn in by her story. Then she asks for our help.

Saying yes was the second mistake.

As Alexis and Hugh spend time together, swimming in our luxurious pool and playing tennis in the sunshine, my husband grows distant and the deep cracks in our relationship begin to show. And when our house guest gets me to open up about my marital problems, I start to wonder why she’s really here.

And then I discover a secret about Alexis that makes my blood run cold.

Am I being paranoid? Or will inviting Alexis into our home destroy my marriage? And is it too late to get rid of her, before she puts our lives in danger?

An absolutely addictive psychological thriller that will keep you guessing. For anyone who loves Ruth Ware, Freida McFadden, and Claire McGowan.

Dumb woman

Another gullible doormat woman who puts up with the most ridiculous behavior and is still polite. I predicted the outcome so it's not shocking. I just wish one time the main character ,Usually a woman in this genre, would stand up and say to the young gorgeous model... NO YOU CAN'T MOVE IN WITH US FOR A WHILE.
Absurd. Well written otherwise.. excellent narration by the amazing Jan Cramer.

Started slowly, almost stopped listening

After repeated attempts to listen to this and take an interest in it, I was going to quit listening to it altogether. But then I tried one more time and after several chapters of finding it boring, it finally became interesting. The story suddenly took hold, and I wanted to find out where this was going. The narrator grew on me as it went on. Well, it turned into a labyrinthine story revealed layer by layer in each retelling by the many pov's of the main characters. Very inventive plot. I could comment more specificly, but won't in order to avoid spoilers. One important thing: personally, in my opinion, the ending tied up everything, no loose ends, it was excellent.

Fun mystery

Very innovative mystery/many twists, and surprises! This is a very clever author. I haven’t read a good mystery/ suspense in a while now.

It was just ok

It seemed a like it wasn’t thought through very well. It was just ok, not a book I would recommend to anyone.
