Twelve-year-old Harp Delaney is an unusual child, quiet and intelligent far beyond her years. She would rather spend her days in the library of the grand Georgian house that she sees as her home than playing on the streets with other children. Her mother, Rose, is the reserved and ladylike housekeeper at the Cliff House. The local women envy her grace and poise while the men admire her beauty. She behaves not as a servant should, but as someone who belongs at the ancestral home of eccentric loner Henry Devereaux.

A Little Magic . . . A Lot of Hope
A cynical Isla Laird takes a trip through a nineteenth century painting to a different time and place, just when she is about to age out of the foster care system. The trip back to when the bed and breakfast was a plantation, gives young Isla a different perspective and a glimpse into not only her own feelings, but the heart of others. Great short listen!

Sometimes you have to look back to see what's right in front of you
A poignant and enthralling tale of a young lady longing for something that was right under her nose all along. This beautiful story captures what the Christmas season is about. Love and acceptance are the greatest gifts you can give someone. God sent Jesus to love, accept and forgive us.I
Stephenia McGee, you did an exceptional job of transporting me to Belmont Plantation and on Isla's journey. Your writing is vivid and painted such a colorful picture in my mind's eye that I was momentarily carried away. I can't wait to read more of your work!

Unique and Fun!
The narrator for this audiobook was smooth and I enjoyed her voice. A novella time travel story that was fun and unique with wonderful characters. The old Belmont plantation was the perfect place for Isla and her foster Mom, Jody, at Christmas, even though Isla didn’t think so. When Isla “fell” into a different time and visited Ella from the past I knew this was going to be a wonderful book. Isla learned a lesson but would that make her realize the truth? This book has a spiritual aspect that we can all learn and was very intriguing.
I received a free audio copy of this book but I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
