Another amazing book by Elizabeth Peters! I was so happy to see this book come to audible.com, as I had missed it on my way through the rest of Amelia Peabody series, so when it was released here I had to listen to this series again (4th time through), and this was the crucial missing book! Ms. Peters is an amazing author who brings Egypt to life! I find myself watching anything on the television that has anything to do with egyptology, and I find that she is incredibly accurate in the historic and technical parts of her books. The humor and mystery in this, and in fact all of her books is just down right wonderful. I find myself wishing and hoping for the next book in the series! This book can, as all of her books, be read as a stand alone, or in the series format. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did!

Fun book to take you away to another land. A little romance, a little murder, very humorous!

Great time!

This is not the greatest of the Peabody/Emerson books but Barbara Rosenblat brings it all alive. She ‘gets it’ and she plays it perfectly.

Rosenblat is the GOAT

I loved the book! Another amazing Amelia Peabody Emerson mystery. The narration was not great… it made Emerson sound like a grumpy grandpa and Amelia like a dramatic fanatic. But the story is amazing and the characters are so lovable. And to the reviewers who couldn’t keep the characters straight you are who she refers to as “my reader who dose not posses a supreme intellect.” Highly recommended this book and all the others.

Incredible story and characters! Poor narration.

Lots of archeological details, I felt like I was at a dig. The mystery had me baffled until the end (though I had my suspicions). Narrator Barbara Rosenblat makes this series for me. Her handling of the characters’ voices is nothing short of brilliant; I feel I’m watching a movie. I applaud the author for maintaining romantic tension (and humor) while keeping a couple together (though not much romantic tension in this particular book). TV series writers could learn much from her. It’s a pleasure “watching” Ramses grow up and Nephrit (sp?) mature. Tickled that there’s a bunch more of these cozy historical mysteries to look forward to!
