Publisher's Summary

An inspirational novel about business and life, struggle and success

There are millions of people who own small businesses - and millions struggle. The Highest Calling is the inspirational story of one of them: Troy Becker. Troy has struggled for 12 years with his remodeling business. Not making much money, working 70 hours per week, his family life suffering, Troy is frustrated and confused.

One day, an old man named Cy mysteriously appears in Troy's life - and keeps appearing. Cy, who is on a desperate journey of his own, comes to understand he has been put there to help Troy - but why? And how will he convince Troy to listen?

The Highest Calling is the story of helping others and of learning how to do the right things to succeed. Cy weaves the most important and powerful business principles of all time into the lessons he delivers to his student, for Troy's sake - and his own. His teachings are beneficial to businesspeople and managers alike.

You will laugh, you will cry, and you will learn. The Highest Calling is more than an inspirational book. For those who seek, it is a powerful entrepreneurial education - one that will improve the lives of millions for a lifetime.

Fantastic Perspective

This is a book That I enjoy listening to over and over again. I like how the author weaves in a narrative with the point he’s trying to make. But also the message of long term investment and not just thinking short term.

A Must Read for Every Contractor

Contracting is a hard gig. We all have horror stories about the contractor who just couldn't get his stuff together and either ended up broke or ended up compromised because he did his clients wrong in an effort not to go broke.

This is an engaging story that teaches life lessons to contractors while also delivering concrete steps to avoid being "that guy". It is possible to serve homeowners, maintain your integrity, and make a great living! This book was my first step in learning how.

This story was absolutely wonderful.

This story was so well put together, the lessons on how to grow the person behind the business and how to manage the business itself. So many great lessons woven into the story. Thank you Larry for sharing and reinforcing lessons learned. I ran across this at the time when I'm starting a new contracting business with similar goals and aspirations as Troy. This is right on time.

Still love it & it's my 3rd time listening!

Larry Janesky is my version of Si in this book. His methods are not that of an Angel or Spirit but that of a man who is called to make a difference in his own business his employees, his customer's and the company leaders he encourages toward a Higher Calling. A life that through good business principles and especially the right thinking touches thousands and in his case possibly millions of people. Thank you Larry!

Both Heartwarming and Informational

What did you love best about The Highest Calling?

I loved how the author intertwined some really important concepts of building a successful business with a realistic story line. The result was an 'easing' into understanding what it takes instead of a pragmatic approach.

What did you like best about this story?

I listened to this story 3 times before moving to different book for two reasons. The business concepts were THAT important to me to learn and the life struggles of both Si and Troy hit really close to home (I'm guessing lots of others too).

What does Lawrence Janesky bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The ownership he has in this story really comes out in his reading of it. It created an emotional attachment to the characters.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

I will always remember that a business owner's only goal should not be about making money but to also to improve the lives of those around him/her.
