In Lisa Gardner's second short story, after the New York Times bestseller The 7th Month, Detective D.D. Warren takes on her most intimidating assignment yet: a fifty-minute class meant to educate a horde of bloodthirsty thriller writers on the ways of actual police work. Yet sometimes life really does imitate fiction, as D.D. takes the writers through the reality of one of her most twisted cases - a case that involves a seedy motel room, drugs, prostitution...and a severed leg.

Story
In Lisa Gardner’s first-ever short story following 13 best-selling novels, "The 7th Month" takes listeners between the books and into a day in the life of Boston Detective D. D. Warren.
In her seventh month of pregnancy, D.D. should be taking it easy. Instead, she accepts a small consulting role on the set of a serial-killer film shooting in Boston. D.D. figures she’ll be useful to someone for at least one night, serving as a police expert and making a little extra money in the bargain. It seems like a simple task—until the previous film consultant, a former Boston cop, is found beaten to death.

Disappointed
This is NOT a book. I would describe it as a short story and a TOTAL rip off of Murder on the Orient Express. What is even more disappointing is the fact I used 1 credit to purchase it. I will be contacting Audible for a refund. This should be a free gift with a purchase. I really like this author too, so so disappointed. Not original work.

97 Minutes of Great Storytelling
Detective D. D. Warren comes home after a day dealing with the most bizarre case she can recall and shares the experience with her husband over a glass of wine. A man walks into the station and is convinced he’s already dead. A few hours after they dispatch him home, they receive a call that this time he’s truly dead. I’m not a fan of novellas but I’m warming to those in this series because they’re cleverly crafted. And, if you have the good fortune to listen to them on audio, you’ll get the added benefit of Kirsten Potter’s sarcastic delivery, completely in tandem with the how the story is written. At the last minute, I decided to use a coupon to get the audiobook from Audible and treated myself to a fun 97 minutes of storytelling. I had no clue where this story would lead and how it would end but I didn’t care because I enjoyed the journey. Just read it and if you can get the audio version, go for it!

FINALLY A RETURN TO A SUCCESSFUL FORMULA
This story was wonderful and long overdue; Ms Gardner has returned to a successful formula with D D Warren and eliminated the Flora Dane character in previous books. The books with the Dane character were so very disappointing. I almost stopped reading Ms Gardner! This was wonderful and I once again look forward to future books.

Short, but fun
I usually only purchase books with my credits. But this one was on sale, I’m a big fan of Lisa Gardner, and so I decided to spend the $5. Well worth it. This was a quick, fun book of the who-done-it variety. Lisa Gardner’s other books are usually very disturbing and showcases the worst of human kind. This was an easy, pleasant listen. The narrator did a nice job in keeping me entertained.
