The fifth book in New York Times best-selling author Donna Grant's sexy Sons of Texas series!

As a double agent, Maks Petrov has been so many people, he doesn't know who he is anymore. While he prefers to work alone, taking down an organization like the Saints requires some help - even if he loathes asking for it. Just one day in the company of a sexy, fearless, and brilliant information broker makes him realize what he's been missing in life...and fantasizing about what he could have.

Maks Petrov, a double agent for many different government organizations that he barely knows who he is. He hasn't seen his family in over a decade. Eden Fontaine, a brilliant information broker who assignment is to look Maks.

A secret organization called the Saints, which has infiltrated powerful institutions (governments, security agencies). Maks and Eden join forces to assemble intel to take them down with the help of the Loughmans.

Donna Grant’s The Guardian pulled me in from the very first chapter. As the final book in her Sons of Texas series, it had that blend of urgency and closure that made me want to keep turning the pages late into the night.

What I loved most was the pairing of Maks and Eden. Maks has lived so many lives undercover that he’s almost forgotten who he truly is, and that struggle felt very real. Eden, on the other hand, is sharp, capable, and unwilling to be overshadowed. Their chemistry isn’t just about attraction—it’s about trust, which made the romance feel earned rather than rushed. I appreciated that Eden wasn’t a passive character waiting to be rescued; she carried her weight and then some.

The suspense elements were gripping. The shadowy Saints organization created a constant sense of danger. More about feeling the thrill of the chase.

If there’s a critique, it’s that the villains felt more like a faceless evil empire than fully fleshed-out characters. I would have liked a little more nuance there. But honestly, the action and romance more than compensated.

As a series finale, The Guardian hit the right notes. It tied up threads, gave the main characters satisfying arcs, and left me with that contented feeling you get when a story has been brought full circle.

For me, it was a fast, entertaining read with just enough heart to balance the danger. If you like romantic suspense with equal measures of heat and high stakes, this one won’t disappoint.

This is the fifth and final book of Donna Grant's Sons of Texas series. I initially started this series because it was written by Donna Grant, and her books have never let me down, but I have to say while the series may be listed under romance, it is so so much more. If you haven't read or listened to the first 4 books, you have no idea what you are missing out on. Technically it "can" be read as a stand alone, but I wouldn't recommend it. I mean come on.... Its a SERIES. And if you don't like series because you hate waiting for the next book. Well Now is the time, because all 5 books in the series are now out.

If you are looking for a book where the hero and heroine hook up on page 2, this isn't the book for you. If you are wanting action, adventure, a secret group that is trying to rule the world, heroes that aren't perfect but would give their all for the people they love and heroines who are not only intelligent, but are as ready to fight as their heroes, then this series is a must read.

This final book was made for 2020 and Maks and Eden are the perfect match to go up against The Saints, with the help of the Loughmans of course.

The only thing I didn't like about this book is that it is the FINAL book in the series. Fell in love with the characters in the Sons of Texas series and am sad to see the series end. I don't often reread books, but this has a permanent place in my library. Loved this series so much I even bought it in audible for those long car trips where only a really good book can get me thru.

Final Note: Recommend starting when you have plenty of reading or listening time. It's a book you just can't put down!

I love Donna Grant. Anything by Donna however I do you have to say that the Sons of Texas hold a special place in my heart. I was very excited for this book and food Maks’s story. I am sad that this is the last book in this series. Eden was great and her an Maks together was perfect. It was a lot of fun to get to see all of them Loughmans return and to wait everyone take down the saints.

The narration was great and this book is definitely worth a credit.

Great ending to a fabulous series.
