Why do we struggle and suffer in life? Have you ever asked the question, why did this happen to me? why am I going through this?

At 16 years of age, I was in a car wreck, which turned my life upside down! I went from being a normal teenage boy, to being flat on my back, unable to move anything or even breathe on my own. This would be the starting point to a lifelong journey of learning to live with a disability, while overcoming obstacles and hardships along the way. Through the pain and struggles God revealed his power, purpose, and plan for my life which I call, The Glorious Life of Adversity.

This 30-year journey has developed my faith, taught me perseverance and instilled in me a never quit attitude. My motto is; “Where there’s a will, there’s a way. And where there’s no way, there’s God!” In this book, I give a detailed account of my discovery of God’s purpose and plan for my life with a disability. I discuss how I learned to trust and follow God through life’s struggles and hardships. I also share the joy and countless blessings that he has poured into my life over the years, including the many impossibilities that He made possible.

I reveal my experiences with success and failures as I share the joys and struggles of marriage, sex, parenting, and life with a disability. I disclose both my mountain top experiences of my life’s greatest moments, as well as the deep dark valleys of pain and struggles that I’ve endured. Through it all, God has consistently and faithfully led me to experience "The Glorious Life of Adversity."

Honest, Soul Uplifting, and full of wisdom

I really enjoyed all of it. I learned a lot and was reminded about trusting in God, and was encouraged in how God allows and uses hard things for His glory, AND isn't ever done with out stories and being a BIG God.

Un-Believable strength

This book shows what great strength James had as a young man and that he has an adult. He gives Jesus Christ the credit for all of his strength and courage. This book also shows what we can do with our faith in Christ. This is a touching story of real life accident that changed his life forever. He tells of his struggles but each lesson shows how God shows up and is always there when we need him. This book is a story all should read and know that how badly we need Gods help and we need God in our lives because he is our helper and our strength. He is our Savior For all eternity. This book will give you compassion and make you reflect on the things we think are hard, that most of us have the abilities to freely go and do with out even thinking anything about it. James helps us know that we have the strength to do Gods will and we can depend on God no matter what our cercumstances are. I will be rereading this book again there is so many golden nuggets in this message of when we feel hopless that all we need to do is trust God and he will give us the strength. This book gives you courage to concur anything that we put our mind too doing.

A challenging, spiritual and physical journey.

As a physician, and one who loves Jesus, it’s not often that I get to doubly appreciate such a book. But James gives a wonderful account of the many details and challenges encountered by quadriplegic, a lot of which aren’t obvious to even some physicians. More importantly, gives an account of his many victories, through his faith in God and Savior, even without physical healing.

Spiritual Growth

I was impressed by how personal this story became for me. I enjoyed listening to the audio quite a lot. My 3-year-old son once filled in the blank when I turned off the audio during the motto "Where there's a will there's a way, and where there's no way -" and he yelled, "There's God!" This book made me think a lot and has been on my mind. It's encouraged me to increase spiritual conversations taking place in my marriage.
