Acclaimed author Karen White returns to Charleston, South Carolina, with the second novel in the New York Times bestselling Tradd Street series.

Melanie Middleton has grown accustomed to renovating old houses, but she never imagined she'd have to renovate her own life to include her estranged mother. Ginnette Prioleau Middleton left Charleston thirty-five years ago. She's returned wanting to protect the daughter she's never really known after receiving an ominous premonition.

Melanie never wanted to see her mother again, but with some prodding from her partner, Jack Trenholm, she agrees—and begins to rebuild their relationship. Together Melanie and Ginnette buy back their old home. With their combined psychic abilities they expect to unearth some ghosts. But what they find is a vengeful dark spirit whose strength has been growing for decades. It will take unearthing long buried secrets to beat this demon and save what's left of Melanie's family...

Praise for New York Times bestselling author Karen White

“There is a rhythm to the writing of Karen White. It has a pace, a beat, a cadence that is all its own.”—The Huffington Post

“White’s dizzying carousel of a plot keeps those pages turning, so much so that the book can [be]—and should be—finished in one afternoon, interrupted only by a glass of sweet iced tea.”—Oprah.com

“White captures the true essence of Charleston by intertwining the sights and smells of the historic town with an enchanting story filled with ghostly spirits, love, and forgiveness…a once-in-a-lifetime series.”—Fresh Fiction

“This is storytelling of the highest order: the kind of book that leaves you both deeply satisfied and aching for more.”—Beatriz Williams, New York Times bestselling author of Tiny Little Thing

This is my second audio book from Karen White and I'm getting hooked on this series. The story was good the characters were still enjoyable, even the new one's that were introduced. The narration was good but Ms. Bruneau has a tendency to read with periods at the end of words. Meaning, she. has. a. way. of. reading. that. is. kind. of. disjointed. She doesn't do this all the time but enough that it is noticeable. Obviously it didn't bother me enough to stop listening or not want to listen to the next book in the series but it did get a bit annoying.

Anyway, this series is clean except for a few kisses and suggested sexual play. Good book!

Another good book from Karen White.

Here is another fantastic book by Karen White and narrator Aimee Bruneau! I just love all of Ms. White’s ghostly mysteries.
I like to be kept guessing until the very end and this story lives up to my expectations! I cannot wait for her new book to be released in October!

A Winner

I love to listen to the narrator, that sweet Southern sound. And the story - about as scary as I’ll let myself get these days. An acceptable amount of spooky!

Excellent book

This book was good but I kept getting confused because there were so many characters “from the past”. Maybe it was because I listened to it instead of reading it. I really needed a family tree 🙂. I will definitely read book 3 - after all, I have to find out what happens in the next chapter in Millie and Jack’s relationship!

A must read! I loved this story and could not put it down. When I started book 1 I said to myself we dont really talk like that do we? After about 30 minutes my accent thickened. I just fell in love with the characters and the story.

Could not put it down.

I have been thoroughly enjoying this series and look forward to continuing on. I enjoy the author's style of writing and the narrator chosen suits the story well.
However, I really found this story to be "genealogically confusing" The clarity muddied the water. Had I drawn out a family tree I may have been able to keep people in their places of lineage.
But overall, another good story

Really enjoying this series
