Better Narrator makes for better read

So I was gifted this book for my thoughts and as always I am honored. I will start with this. I seldom approve of switching narrators. In most cases the 1st narrator has already established a voice for the characters. Often times they pronounce the names of characters differently and that can be frustrating. However, in this case, this was a wonderful and successful idea! George has really brought the characters to life in this book which the 1st narrator failed to do and I am pleased! This was a very good book! Family conflict a war between gods, darkness and light plus plenty of suspense. Sadly though I have to now wait for 3 to come out. Definitely worth making it through the first one to get to this one and I am confident that the 3rd installment will be just as awesome!

Dark Fantasy - complex and compelling

I'm loving this new trilogy in the world of Ansu. The Giant's Dance continues on from the events in Blood Feud. The world building is detailed and richly described, evocative and atmospheric. The characters are complex and flawed. The gods engage in battles through their human pawns, traitorous and uncaring. Dark Fantasy at it's best.

Andrew McDermott has narrated all of the earlier books set in the world of Ansu so that I was fazed by the switch of narrator to George Ellington who has a different accent, pronunciation and cadence. So much so that I followed on whispersync for a major part of this second book. However I accommodated to the change, and there is no doubt that I will listen to the third and final episode of this trilogy.

Great second installment

Builds really well on the epic story and sets us up well for the final installment.
JW Webb has a fantastic imagination and I've enjoyed all his books set in the World of Ansu. I suggest you dive into the full collection of the adventures of Corin an Fol that come before this spin off trilogy set years later. They are a treat if you enjoy irreverent, flawed heroes, epic fantasy and don't get precious about regular cursing :)
I enjoyed the narrator of this book better than the chap who did the first installment. He does have a strong accent, but I didn't find this a problem.
Looking forward to the final book in this series.
