Publisher's Summary

Words like unnatural and impure started the whispers. From the very beginning, Ivy Blackwood was different. She was only a child when she was accused of setting the fire, one she passively watched engulf the small house she had called home. Her fingertips burned, and her hair singed. Some who watched her crossed themselves, convinced she was soulless for she showed no emotion at all. Calm and dispassionate, even when the screaming started that quickly turned to bellows of agony before dying into nothing but the roaring of the fire. She was locked away where she couldn’t bring harm to herself or others. To all involved, they had protected the world from a monster, but sometimes things are not what they seem.

Due to language and adult situations, this book is not intended for listeners under the age of 18.

Holy wow! Intense and nail biting!

This book is brilliant, beautiful, unique, intense and so full of love it gave me goosebumps listening to it. Ivy Blackwood is a different girl she doesn’t show emotions to anything yes absolutely nothing. So when Ivy was a young girl and her house went into flames the world locked her up for years. Who is Ivy? Fall in love with so many characters they keep you wanting more.. Hang on tight for a awesome thrill ride that will make you gasp and yell and more than anything keep asking the one question everyone wants to know. Who is coming? Oh and the narrators made this story even more intense! Love it! 5/5 stars

Paranormal, Romance, and chills

I read this one when it released and enjoyed the story, but the audio version takes it up a notch or two. Tracy Marks and Aaron Shedlock add a nuance to the story that pulled me in and held me from the very beginning. There are a lot of characters to get to know, but once they were worked out and sorted in my head, it was easy to pick up with each person's point of view. The story has a haunting feel to it from the very beginning that keeps a listener guessing about the what's, who's, and why's. The author blends the paranormal, a bit of folklore, and that edge of your seat element wonderfully to create a steadily rising tension as secrets are revealed bit by bit. The character development, especially considering the sheer amount of characters involved, is astounding. Love them or hate them, each character is interesting and adds something to the story. The creep factor is pretty high at times, but there are also moments of levity with some brilliantly witty dialogue, and we even get some romance in the mix. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a few chills with the supernatural, and appreciates a love story that stands the test of time. The conclusion is rather open-ended, leaving the future open for this unlikely bunch of heroes. I don't know if another Ivy Blackwood Chronicles story is planned, but if so, I'll certainly be checking it out.

Love the story!

I do love me audiobooks, especially because they keep me relatively sane while doing that #workthing. I especially love audiobooks of books I’ve already enjoyed reading since I can just let myself be carried away by the narration and not worry too much about paying close attention to the story since I already know it’s outcome. And that’s the situation we have here.

I LOVED The Gathering. LOVED (Full review is below) So, I was definitely looking forward to hearing it be brought to life, especially since both narrators are ones that I have either only listened to a few times, or is brand new to me, and overall I enjoyed their performances. I did prefer the male narrators voice and cadence over the female narrators voice, but I thought that both did a very good job at bringing the characters to life and giving each a distinctive enough voice that I could differentiate between them all easily as the book progressed and am looking forward to listening to more from both in the future.

What a ride!

From start to finish I was hooked!

This book gave me the creeps, had me at the edge of my seat and gave me the swoons. It also had me laughing and falling in love with a whole slew of characters that I want more of and am very happy to know that I will get to spend more time with them as this is just the first in the series.

There is a huge part of me that wants to get into detail about Ivy, as well as Ivy and Bain, but that would just ruin it for you. But what I can say is that I loved the journey that they both took me on. Ivy is a unique character and I loved how her story evolved and unfolded. There were quite a few things I didn’t see coming, but it all worked for me. And as for Bain and Ivy. There’s is an epic romance, a little mind bending, but epic and the swoons these two caused were real.

I know this is quick and vague, but it kind of has to be since to give you more would ruin the story and even now I think I may have given a bit too much, but it is what it is. I loved the world that the author brought to life, it was vivid and bright, even in the darkness and I loved how unique all of the characters were and how they brought more depth to the world at large. And after that epilogue, I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series!

Paranormal Romance at its Best!

L.A. Fiore is an incredible author! I love how she weaves the stories, and includes vibrant imagery, well developed characters and a twisting story. I loved the tale of Ivy and Bane, and thought that Tracy Marks and Aaron Shedlock brought the characters to life with their voices. They both are extremely talented narrators, and together they are magic. The ending of this book is open ended, and I'm hoping the author continues the chronicles.

Fantastic Paranormal Romance!

This is the first book in the Ivy Chronicles Series. The Preface and the Prologue intrigued me, and hooked me from the beginning to the end. I absolutely love all about this story!: The characters (a lot of characters), the plot, the mystery, the suspense, the scenery, and the so beautiful romance! If you like vampires, Lycans, ghosts, witches, demons, God, immortal, and also humans, you should love this story. I totally recommend it. Now, I can't wait to listen to the next book in the Series, Jareth's story. Aaron Shedlock and Tracy Marks did an amazing job with the narration. This is a great team author/narrators! I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily written this review. I have read and listened this story.

Quite the ride

There is a lot going on in this book. There are so many twist and turns that even you will feel the enormity of it as the characters discover there hidden pasts! I will warn you, you gotta pay attention. It written completely from the point of view of the characters, so if they don't know what it is going, you don't know either. If you like a whole lot of fantasy and mystery in your book, this book is for you! and it is just getting started! ;)

Epic tale of Ivy and Bane

Paranormal books are not my usual listen, but with the team of LA Fiore, Aaron Shedlock and Tracy Marks, I just could not pass this one by! And I am so glad I listened. Fiore has masterfully written a love story spanning hundreds of years, with demons and vampires, Goddesses and shifters. I became completely entranced. Ivy Blackwood is an amazing character. I loved her from the very start, talking to voices "in her head" like Tristan(what a great character!). Bane is the ultimate alpha, romantic man, and I could feel the pull between these two from the start. What a journey these two take, figuring out their past and how to save the world. Set in the magic capital of the US, New Orleans is the perfect setting for this highly visual and sensual book. I also enjoyed the different points of view that were given, not just from the main characters. Fiore has intricately woven this tale and will keep you riveted as you listen.

With a story as complex as this, a narrating team needs to be spot on! And Aaron Shedlock and Tracy Marks fit the bill! There are many characters, and a plethora of voicing that needs to be accomplished during this epic tale. Shedlock and Marks are consummate professionals and provide that movie in your mind with their talents. I could tell exactly who was speaking every moment and could feel the buildup of suspense and passion through their narration. It's amazing!

Was difficult to follow along at times.

I had a hard time staying engaged in the story. Sometimes I’d think I was understanding what was happening, just to be lost all over again.
Tracy Marks AKA Laurel Schroeder, killed it for me as well. Wish it would’ve only been Aaron Shedlock narrating this story. Maybe I would’ve felt more inclined into finishing this book. It was a no for me. Returned.

The Gathering

L.A. Fiore has done it again and written another hit. This story had depth and a well developed plot and I found it hard to put down. I loved the paranormal aspects of the book and the chosen location for the story to unfold. Things are not quite what they seem in the beginning. And as Ivy's story is slowly revealed so are lots of forgotten secrets. I love how she was so child like but an adult exploring New Orleans for the first time. I so look forward to more from this series and more secrets to come out. Aaron Shedlock and Tracy Marks both do a fantastic job on the narration of the story and really bring it to life.

Paranormal with some dark magic

The Gathering was a little confusing for me at the start. I went in blind and I think I expected a bit of a dark romance with the way the story began. Once I realized the paranormal aspects of the story and as the story progressed with more details coming to light, I did get caught up in the story and enjoyed it more.

“That was the kind of love worth breaking the rules for, worth sacrificing for, worth dying for.”

I enjoyed the atmosphere of the story, the background of New Orleans and the hints of dark magic, ghosts, zombie, etc.
Awesome narration on the audiobook kept me listening from start to finish!

Spooky Love

It was very spooky and suspenseful. I found myself hooked instantly and feeling creeped out in moments. Definitely a great read by Fiore and would recommend :)) The book I absolutely loved reading and was looking forward to listening to, but the narration wasn't the best. He used the same voice for several characters and even though I had read this book previously it was utterly confusing as to who was speaking.

Good

I am a huge fan of paranormal books, but I have been mainly reading romance lately, so this book came at a great time and really piqued my interest as soon as I read the synopsis.

This book was a perfect jump back to the paranormal genre for me, and I honestly could not put it down once I had started. I spent the whole book on the edge of my seat and had to make sure I kept the lights on!

This is set during Mardi Gras in New Orleans, where there is an abandoned and suspected haunted mansion. A place where you would dare your friends to enter for fun, however, no one ever makes it back out of the mansion alive. You also have the intriguing story of Ivy and the romance with Bain!

This story is full of suspense, mystery and a bit of romance thrown in! It has really pulled me back to the paranormal genre and I cannot wait to read more of the series!

The only thing that let this down for me was the narration, I didn't gel with the male narrator at all. I do love dual narration books though and the female did improve things for me for listening to the entire story.

Made me think I had ADD

This book jumps about so much I went back a couple of times thinking I had missed something. It’s so difficult to follow, and this is not helped by the fact that the male narrator - who has a lovely but very distinctive voice - uses exactly the same voice for several characters. It’s not often I get bored and give up on a book, but add this to that small pile.

what an unusual story

this was so different to the other books of the author.
I loved savage and was hoping for more shipwrecked.
the descriptive flowing words kept you listening and she poured them over you at the utmost perfect of times. wonderful book that you have to listen to so you can finish the puzzle.
the narrators... Mr shedlock was perfect for this book and I have listened to Tracy with other books and struggled with her unusual expression. but for this novel she was absolutely perfect.
listen to this book when you have time to focus on only this, then you'll complete the puzzle. don't give up,!
