World renowned author and funny man Tim Fahey narrates his epic book, The Fun Mover Chronicles. Join him as he rolls his way along bicycle touring’s fondest route - the Northern Tier. The author suddenly understood the importance and the urgency of enjoying life all along the way.
Your humble author re-prioritized his bucket list by putting a decades-long dream at the top: riding a bicycle from one side of America to the other.
Armed with a burning desire to ride a really long way on a bicycle, Tim mounted up and pedaled onward across the United States as a newly minted orphan and a middle-aged man on a mission. Along the way, he met new people, saw new places, and discovered a hidden strength. He also discovered a nearly endless parade of characters that, together, underscored how terrific it is to be above ground and riding a bike.
There is fun and adventure to be had when you’re cruising across the country, and the daily dose of random was just what the doctor ordered - "Take two wheels and call me in the morning". Since the whole thing - the bike trip, life - is all just a tad absurd in the first place, why not name your bike "The Fun Mover" and author a book about the stars of the show: the people met along the way?
Adventure and and a sense of subtle hilarity ensues.
Bike travel can be grueling, physically and mentally, but that’s where the true test of what you’re made of begins. Getting to where you’re going, sometimes, ain’t no picnic, but a smile makes the miles go easier. Many celebrities have read or listened to this book. Join them. Laugh out loud. The movie option rights are still available...for now. Jump on a sonic saddle and meet people you’d not otherwise come across. They’re in there. Tim will introduce them all to you!

If it’s navel-gazing you’re after, you’ve come to the wrong place; ditto treacly self-examination. Rather, his observations turn outward: a fight between two men on a bus, a fight between two men on the street, pedestrians being whacked over the head or gathering to watch as a man considers leaping to his death. There’s a dirty joke shared at a book signing, then a dirtier one told at a dinner party - lots of jokes here. Plenty of laughs.

I listened to this mainly while doing yard work. Although I too break from it for a while. A good listen about a cycling journey across the United States. As much about the people he met along the way as well as the journey itself. Often funny at times.

Pessimist
If you want to listen to someone complain for a trip across America, this is the book for you. I quit before he was half way.
