Loved it.

Quirky mystery with a time travel twist. If you like Griffiths other series, this one has a similar tone.

Elly Griffiths expands genres excellently

As a fan, I expected Griffiths’ usual well-constructed characters and solid world-building. Sci-fi is tricky though, and while the mechanics were vague and the historical support and research arm of a top-secret project government/police apparently whimsical and sparse, I was happy to suspend my doubts and let her writing skills and deft ability to create believable relationships (in two centuries!) carry me along. I’ll definitely be back for the next book in this series.

Excellent and gripping

As a big fan of the Ruth series I was doubtful about a time travel book, but once it started it was so well presented and gripping, I couldn’t stop listening and can’t wait for the next installment!

I love the series about Ruth Galloway and this is just as gripping !!

I recommend this book for those of you who have enjoyed the Ruth Galloway series and for anyone who loves a character driven exciting mystery . Time travel is a excellent twist for the plot

Wasn't sure if I would like this one because I love Ellie's Ruth and Harbinder series but can't with her Magician ones. Enjoyed ever bit of this one. Can't wait for more.

Loved this story!!! Plot was great, I love a good mystery with a twist. I felt the ending was a bit rushed but it definitely left me wanting more. This was a great listen and a refreshing story overall, I was in a slump and this pulled me out. Thank you to both the author and narrator.

The Frozen People Kept Me Enthralled

Alison is a fully developed wise non-traditional detective. She is courageous and loyal to her family and co-workers. Her sleuthing mysteries unfold both in the present and the 19th century. Time travel, intrigue and friendship richly add to the bending twists of the story.

elly griffiths does it again!

Once again, Elly Griffiths creates a cast of characters who are human, believable, and interact accordingly. There is a mystery within an enigma, set in 2023 London-- and the same location in 1850. The relationships are fascinating-- between lovers, assistants and their MPs, mothers and their children. Cats and their servants appear as do ex-spouses, widows, and time travelers.

Despite a few plots left hanging, I can't decide if I want this to be a new series. I was disappointed in the last one I tried. Too Gothic for me with a too believable teen daughter.

Love the new cast of characters! Love the nod to Audrey Niffenegger, etc. Endless potential for a series. Elly is amazing. Thanks for a great read!
