Publisher's summary

New York Times best seller Lincoln Child returns with a riveting new thriller featuring the charismatic and quirky Professor Jeremy Logan, renowned investigator of the strange and the inexplicable, as he uncovers a long-lost secret experiment only rumored to have existed.

Jeremy Logan (The Third Gate, Deep Storm) is an "enigmalogist" - an investigator who specializes in analyzing phenomena that have no obvious explanation. In this newest novel, Logan finds himself on the storied coastline of Newport, Rhode Island, where he has been retained by Lux, one of the oldest and most respected think tanks in America. Just days earlier, a series of frightening events took place in the sprawling seaside mansion that houses the organization. One of its most distinguished doctors began acting erratically - violently attacking an assistant in the mansion's opulent library and, moments later, killing himself in a truly shocking fashion. Terrified by the incident and the bizarre evidence left behind, the group hires Logan to investigate - discreetly - what drove this erudite man to madness.

His work leads him to an unexpected find. In a long-dormant wing of the estate, Logan uncovers an ingeniously hidden secret room, concealed and apparently untouched for decades. The room is a time capsule, filled with eerie and obscure scientific equipment that points to a top-secret project long thought destroyed, known only as "Project S." Ultimately the truth of what Project S was...and what has happened in that room...will put Logan in the path of a completely unexpected danger.

One of his most thrilling novels to date, The Forgotten Room is replete with veiled, fascinating history and all the exhilarating action and science that are the hallmarks of a Lincoln Child blockbuster.

Total miss by Child

1st and foremost a warning to ALL authors...DO NOT USE THIS NARRATOR...he reads every line as though it was the end of a child's horror story...I wanted to scream!!!
Ok now I really enjoy all of Lincoln Child's previous books and his collaborations. This book was horrible. The storyline was ridiculous, it was so far from Child's usual seemingly supernatural yet man made twists...it was just dumb.
After I suffered listening to that narrator I expected to at least be treated to a good tale...I suffered in vain
I'm sorry for bashing your work as I know all artists put so much into their work however this story was best left unpublished

Just okay

I found this book a little tedious. It really did not engage my interest as much as I hoped it would.

Good beach read

Picked this book because I enjoy Lincoln Child but also because Newport RI is my home town. It was a fun read which kept me attentive. I could see and feel myself on the streets of Newport and in the hidden room of the manse. Intriguing story line.....pray it remains fiction.

hidden rooms in old mansions.

I love hidden room books, especially well written ones. More especially haunted ones. That that and then add twist and turns into the story and you have the excellent novel that you expect from Preston/Child. This is the 3rd book written solely by Child that I have read, I enjoy his style so much, I love how he leads you down one path and then takes a 90 degree turn keeping the suspense running high.

This book begins with the horrific death of an old scientist and a beautiful manumission turned think tank, that has its own history and some possible haunting. Logan who we have seen in other books by Child comes in to investigate this death to uncover other strange occurrences, that lead him down into a history of the old estate and its long long history as a think tank. Taking turns that you expect and some that you don't.

The narrator carried the novel excellently. changing characters, sexes, and tension easily through out the whole book. I can not honestly say I have listened to him before I don't remember, but I would definitely consider listening to him again.

Exactly what you would expect from Lincoln Child!

This was exactly what I expect from the amazing Lincoln Child. I love following Jeremy Logan on his adventures. There are several twists in this one that will leave you guessing!

Johnathan McClain, although not as good as Scott Brick, does a fantastic job with this one!

You will not be disappointed in this one.

Excellent listen!

I've read all of Lincoln child's books and I believe this is one of his best. I'd highly suggest it, especially with Jonathon McCain's voice - great performance!

Another excellent Lincoln Child novel

Entertaining story with some fun twists. Great concept too. Certainly, I enjoyed listening, and it kept my attention. The narration was good, however, it was read a little too slowly sometimes, which could be annoying. I don't think the narrator himself would ever pull me to another book, but not the worst either. I do like Lincoln Child's novels, in general. His genre is very appealing in that it does stimulate one's imagination. I would recommend this book.
