Where lies are currency, the price of truth is blood.

Brida Larrow has no right to be among the Fae Courts, but she’s willing to risk everything to save her dying father. Armed with a forged invitation and a fierce determination, she enters the treacherous Fae Trials, a deadly contest crafted to break even the strongest Fae. One misstep, and the truth of her identity could be her undoing—and cost her the cure she so desperately needs.

With enemies around every corner, Brida must rely on her wits and cunning to survive. But when Dainan, the enigmatic Prince of Shadows, takes notice of her, the stakes grow even higher. Betrothed to her most dangerous rival and a master of secrets himself, Dainan sees through her every deception. His dark allure stirs something within her, sparking a forbidden attraction that could either ruin her or become her greatest weapon.

Caught in a web of deception and desire, Brida walks a fine line between ambition and survival. In a world where alliances shift like shadows and betrayal is the currency of the Courts, she must find the strength to face not only the ruthless Trials but also the dangerous emotions Dainan awakens. One wrong move could doom her to failure—or reveal a side of herself she never knew existed.

The Forgotten Dawn is the spellbinding first book in The Shattered Sky Saga, an epic fantasy romance series brimming with rich world-building, electrifying slow burn chemistry, and pulse-pounding action. Perfect for fans of Fourth Wing, Throne of Glass, and A Court of Thorns and Roses

Single-POV brilliance. Brida owns this story—her heart, her mother’s hidden secrets, and the looming betrayal of Dainan’s wedding to someone else. The tension is exquisite, the prophecy threads are addictive, and I can feel devastation on the horizon.

The duet narration (Gabriel Michael & Rylee Kuberra) is pure magic—intimate, immersive, and impossible to step away from. I’m only at Chapter 50 with two hours left, but I already know The Forgotten Dawn is unforgettable.

Truth hides in shadows. The more you know, the less you do.

From the very first chapter, The Forgotten Dawn grabs you by the collar and refuses to let go—and the duet narration by Gabriel Michael and Rylee Kuberra elevates this gripping fantasy romance into something truly unforgettable. Their performances are nothing short of perfect. Each character feels fully realized, their voices distinct and emotionally charged, making it easy to get lost in the lush, dangerous world Laura A. Blake has created.

If you're a fan of tense romantic drama, fated mates (or are they?), magic, secrets, and scheming fae courts, this book is absolutely for you. The plot moves at a breakneck pace from the very start, mixing romantic tension with high-stakes political intrigue and unexpected twists. There are secret identities to unravel, dangerous truths lurking beneath every interaction, and a world that feels as enchanting as it is treacherous.

The chemistry between the leads practically crackles through the speakers, thanks to the chemistry between the narrators and Blake’s evocative writing. Whether it’s whispered conversations or confrontations that threaten to tear everything apart, the emotion and intensity come through beautifully in audio format.

Honestly, I couldn’t stop listening. I stayed up late, completely hooked—"just one more chapter" turned into finishing the entire thing in a single sitting. If you're craving a story that blends romance, suspense, fantasy, drama, and a little bit of spice 🌶️🌶️(seems like there will be more in the future) in the best way possible, you won't regret diving into The Forgotten Dawn.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Highly recommended for fans of romantic fantasy who love immersive narration and can’t resist a good secret or two.

Insanely good narrators for a fantastic story

Love love love this story! I originally got the ebook as an arc but when release day came and went and I hadn’t finished. I decided to try this format so I could listen while I did daily tasks. I got so lost in this world and this story that I found myself looking for more chores just to keep going!

Love it

This book was one of my most anticipated releases of this year. I saw the cover reveal and it was immediately on my TBR. It absolutely did not disappoint.

When you first start reading The Forgotten Dawn, it feels nostalgic in its premise. It has elements that are familiar if you've read Romantasy before, and because of that familiarity it's easy to immerse yourself in this new world. But then once it gets going you will realize how unique this world truly is.

I read this on audio, and occasionally as an immersive read when things were getting crazy. The audiobook is fantastic. It's performed in duet narration by Gabriel Michael and Rylee Kuberra and they do a phenomenal job. The book is fairly complex so if you aren't used to fantasy on audio I would suggest an immersive read to help you keep everything straight, but I definitely recommend the audiobook.

In this world magic isn't based on what race you are (human, fae, nymph), but rather if one of the four fae courts finds you worthy to join their ranks. To gain your magic you must be invited to The Courting and pass through a series of trials. If you make it to the end, then *maybe* you will be invited to one (or more) of these fae courts.

This story moves quickly at the beginning. I thought it was a great pace to get you into the story. Then it slows down a bit to let you get to know these characters and the remarkable found family that is assembling. To avoid spoilers I won't name any characters, but I truly love some of them and I need to put them in my pocket to protect them. Others...They can eat glass.

And finally you come to the ending... The end is where Laura rips out your heart and leaves you in shambles, unable to move on. 😤 Ok that was dramatic, but honestly I finished this book days ago and I'm still not over it.

The next hit Romantasy series

I read a vague review prior to listening that stated you can’t trust anyone… or maybe it was in the description. EITHER WAY. The entire time I kept thinking, who is going to betray her? And look, did I think at one point the culprit was it? Yes, of course. But the way the characters are written, it made me skeptical of so many people! Granted, had I not read, “you can’t trust anyone” prior, I probably wouldn’t have gone in thinking everyone’s untrustworthy. However, it was such a fun listen trying to figure out who was going to betray her. Aside from that, the world building, friendships and romance were fantastic. And the duet narration takes it to the next level. I’m so invested and super bummed I have to wait so long for the next book.

The narrators skillfully embody each character and paint a vivid world where fae courts and deities intertwine. I loved the duet narration and the portrayal of Brida and Prince Dainan’s unexpected attraction and the secrets that divide them.

The Forgotten Dawn is an engrossing fantasy romance steeped in courtly intrigue, forbidden desires, and a smoldering slow burn romance. With each shocking revelation, Brida has more to uncover and I’m so excited to see what happens next, especially after *that* ending!

Huge thanks to the author for the listening copy. This is my honest and voluntary review.

engrossing debut fantasy romance!
